Woman Stunned to Discover Unusual Foot Sticking Out of Her Car Engine

Date:

One day in Phoenix, Arizona, a woman was occupied with her usual household tasks when she suddenly heard loud noises outside. Familiar with her dogs’ sounds, she quickly realized it wasn’t them. But who could be causing such a commotion?

To investigate, she checked her yard security camera and discovered a strange creature crawling beneath her car. Although it wouldn’t have been unusual if the animal had emerged, it piqued her curiosity.

With a clear understanding of the situation, she promptly went to check on her vehicle—channeling her inner car mechanic.

A Peculiar Situation

Upon inspecting under the car, she was utterly astonished. A leg was dangling from the engine, and it soon became apparent that a playful dog was stuck there.

Unsure of how to proceed, she reached out to professionals at the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) for assistance, and they arrived promptly.

Emergency animal medical technicians Jesus and McKenzie Dunnington surveyed the scenario and swiftly began the rescue operation for this dog, whom they later named Nova, after the classic ’67 Chevy Nova in which she was entrapped.

Despite their extensive experience, the AHS responders were taken aback by this unusual circumstance and managed to free Nova within just 15 minutes.

“Ruthie Jesus, who has been with AHS’ Field Team for ten years, mentioned that while she’s rescued many cats and kittens from car engines, she has never encountered a full-grown dog,” Kelsey Dickerson, AHS spokesperson, revealed in a conversation with The Dodo. “While there was a prior rescue of a puppy from a car engine, Nova, weighing 49 pounds, is very likely the first adult dog to have been rescued from such a predicament in the shelter’s history!”

Above all, the operation’s success and Nova’s liberation from this “mechanical snare” marked the most significant outcome.

Her Journey to a Fresh Start

After being freed from the car engine, Nova’s true personality emerged—radiating playfulness, joy, and an abundance of positive energy.

However, they needed to take her to the veterinarian for a check-up, given the unsavory conditions of her entrapment. Fortunately, they concluded that she was well off—suffering only minor injuries.

New beginnings awaited Nova, and she seemed to sense it, as a smile lit her face. Nova was on the brink of a fresh chapter in her life.

“After receiving care for minor ear injuries at AHS’ trauma hospital, Nova is now set for her forever home at AHS’ South Mountain Campus,” Kelsey commented. “She is an incredibly affectionate, playful, and energetic pup who enjoys walks and loves attention from everyone she encounters.”

According to their official website, Nova is a two-year-old mix looking for a home without cats or small pets because “Dogs rule!”

The rescue team in Phoenix, Arizona, is confident that Nova is destined for a happy ending.

Even though this incident could have had a tragic outcome, the car she “collided with” turned out to be a ride toward a new and promising life for Nova, which is ultimately what matters the most in the end.
