Have you ever experienced that unsettling sensation that someone is watching you? Joey Sala felt just that as she was about to ascend from her basement.
While making her way up, she spotted a pair of luminous eyes peering at her from the darkness. Joey’s heart raced, but unbeknownst to her, this little creature was far from menacing; in fact, it was quite adorable.
In The Shadows
As soon as she locked eyes with those from the dark, Joey shrieked and took a step back. However, she managed to muster her courage to confront her fears.
And when she did, she was in for a delightful surprise.
Emerging from the darkness was a charming black cat named Pepper, who belonged to her mother. Once she realized this, Joey couldn’t help but chuckle at her own jumpiness, having been spooked yet again by Pepper’s ninja-like stealth.
“She startled me so much! She didn’t move a muscle when I screamed. She just sat there… It felt like a scene from a horror movie. You really don’t want to see someone or something staring at you through the stairs in the basement!” Joey relayed to The Dodo.
Hide And Seek Champion
Everyone in the household agrees that Pepper is the ultimate Hide and Seek champion, effortlessly scaring her family members while hiding in plain sight, almost as seamlessly as she sleeps.
“Pepper truly knows how to blend in! She loves perching on black clothing, my mother’s dark purse, and pretty much any shadowy nook,” she shared.
But the shadows beneath the stairs aren’t her only go-to hiding spot.
She’s so adept at camouflage that even her family calls for her name numerous times, fearing she has vanished.
After moments filled with worry, Pepper ultimately slips out from her hiding spot, proving once more that she can outwit everyone.
Even though Joey felt relieved to have discovered it was just Pepper indulging in her playful antics, she couldn’t shake off the irritation of being tricked by this clever feline once more.
Sadly for Joey, it’s clear that Pepper has no intentions of ending her little games anytime soon, suggesting that as long as this stealthy cat is around, many more jumpscares are in store in the future.
