Cold-hearted individuals often fail to recognize the fear and sadness that abandoned dogs like Roxy endure. At just eight weeks old, she was left behind in a cardboard box, confused and scared, curling up in a ball as she waited for someone to reassure her.
A Sigh Of Relief

One day, a Pennsylvania resident noticed an unusual cardboard box with a message reading ‘free puppy’ outside their home. According to Sara Hornbeck, director of East Coast Bulldog Rescue, “The caller reported there was a box in front of their home.” Upon peeking inside, the Good Samaritan found Roxy, with her cute puppy eyes, and felt a surge of relief, knowing she was finally safe.
The resident quickly contacted Animal Control, who promptly arrived to take Roxy to a shelter.
Roxy’s New Beginning

Upon learning about Roxy, East Coast Bulldog Rescue, a volunteer-run shelter in Pittsburgh, eagerly took her in. The rescuers were immediately charmed by her friendly disposition, expressing disbelief that someone could abandon such a sweet pup. “Once we picked her up from animal control, we quickly discovered she was the sweetest, most lovable girl and surprisingly in good shape for a puppy that had been discarded like trash,” Hornbeck mentioned. During her freedom ride, Roxy initially seemed confused but soon relaxed, comforted by the love from her rescuers.
As soon as Roxy was settled into the rescue, the staff fell in love and shared her story on social media. It didn’t take long for her to find a forever home. A lovely woman, who was mourning the loss of her beloved Pittie, Junie Bug, came across Roxy’s story and felt an immediate connection, deciding to welcome her home and shower her with love.
Convinced that Roxy would be the perfect addition to her family and a delightful companion for her lonely dog, Murphy, the woman brought Roxy into a loving home where she now feels safe and cherished.
