Woman Offers Shelter to Stray Dog for One Night, Unveiling an Unexpected Surprise

Date:

Carlyn Foreman, a New York foster, has always had a love for dogs, but none captured her heart quite like Norman did. After volunteering for a few months at Waldo’s Rescue Pen, she came across a photo of this adorable Pitbull mix at a Georgia shelter. He was eager to escape his kennel, and she felt an overwhelming urge to give him a hug. Unfortunately, her busy schedule only allowed her to foster him for one night, but that quickly changed!

She Just Wanted To Hug Him

Carlyn’s heart sank when she first saw Norman’s picture. As a Waldo’s Rescue Pen volunteer in New York, she learned that Norman had a high chance of being moved to a foster home, yet a fellow volunteer couldn’t commit for just one night. Without hesitation, Carlyn took it upon herself to ensure he wouldn’t miss this chance for a better life. “As of 11 PM the night prior to transport, he still lacked a foster and was at risk of staying in Georgia,” Carlyn shared in an Instagram video. After a lengthy 20-hour van ride, Norman arrived at his new home.

They rode home in an Uber, and just two hours later, Carlyn was utterly smitten with Norman. His calm demeanor and affectionate nature were unparalleled; he had a way of dazzling her unlike any previous dog. That’s when she made the decision not to let him go and became his permanent foster!

“He got off the 20-hour ride with a wagging tail and the biggest smile. By 11 AM, I knew I couldn’t let him go, so I switched to being his full-time foster,” she recalled.

With this transition, Norman’s life transformed. No longer just a shelter dog, he became a beloved foster pup ready to embrace his new life. His sweet, laid-back nature meant he spent most of his time napping, making him the easiest companion. The only time he exhibited bursts of energy was when he was around other dogs, showing his friendly disposition towards both humans and furry friends alike, earning him “bonus points!” His smooth adaptation made Carlyn fall more in love with him, leading to a significant decision.

From Temporary To Permanent

Carlyn never intended to make Norman a permanent part of her family, but after fostering him for a few weeks, it just felt right. “I didn’t plan to adopt, but sometimes saying goodbye just isn’t possible. Welcome home, Normy,” Carlyn expressed.

Now, Norman enjoys a vibrant life, free from the constraints of a shelter and filled with love. He revels in friendships, snuggles with Carlyn and other visitors, lounges on the coziest couch, and watches stunning sunsets at Central Park. Life couldn’t be better!
