Sibling Rivalry or Something More?
Every older sibling can relate. You enjoy your perfect life in your lovely home with mom and dad, and then suddenly, the tranquility is disrupted.
A new baby brother or sister arrives.
For Millie, it was a baby sister named Bella.
Goodbye, cozy cuddles with mom. Farewell, favorite child status.
The royal throne had to be shared. Millie was no longer the undisputed queen; it was now Millie and Bella.
“We got Millie as a puppy when our daughter was just two to provide her a furry friend to grow up with,” shared Gemma Stevenson, the family mom, during an interview with Newsweek. “Two years later, we welcomed Bella, as we felt Millie needed company while I returned to work more as our daughter became older. So, we decided to get Millie her own companion.”
There’s nothing amiss with that decision. It’s quite common for pet owners to bring another pet into the home for the established pet’s companionship.
However, the Stevenson family had no clue that Millie wasn’t the sharing type.
Initially, they believed Millie and Bella would get along splendidly. However, as time went on, it became evident that Millie was still viewing Bella as a usurper.
She felt her family was taken from her! Her perfect life disrupted, and she was not going down without a fight. How could this happen?!
“When Bella first came home, Millie was quite curious and excited, like any sibling may be,” Stevenson reminisced. “But soon enough, she got tired of Bella’s antics.”
The non-stop energy and playful invasion from Bella became increasingly irksome for Millie.
Eventually, things reached a tipping point, and… well…
She devised a clever way to eliminate her sister.
It was an ingenious plan. Bella was none the wiser—she thought they were just playing. But Millie had no playful intentions. She was focused on her little sibling’s demise.
She was mere moments away from burying her baby sister alive in a hole she had dug herself!
And then… Mom caught everything on camera.
It brought to mind a classic scene from the movie Step Brothers:
- What are you doing?
- I’m burying you.
- I’m alive… I’m alive!
- You’re waking the neighbors! Shut up!
Joking aside, thankfully Millie didn’t get the chance to bury her little sister (thank goodness for that).
Were there feelings of jealousy? Not much. Not even the slightest.

Guess what? Bella is no longer facing the risk of being buried alive!
Over time, Bella endeared herself to Millie. Although their initial interactions weren’t the warmest, Bella and Millie are now the best of buddies.
Now, it’s double trouble, and the girls are hatching their next plan for mischief.
