Woman Attempts to Drown Belgian Shepherd by Securing a Boulder Around Its Neck

Date:

While enjoying a peaceful walk by the river with her beloved dogs, Jane Harper’s attention was abruptly drawn to something alarming.

Amidst the tranquility, the anguished barks of a suffering dog filled the air, prompting Jane to turn her gaze towards the riverbank.

Acting instinctively, she dashed toward the sound of distress. To her shock, she found a Belgian Shepherd fighting for its life in the water.

Yet, as she got closer, Jane uncovered a far more startling fact – the dog was tethered to a heavy rock inside a duffel bag, intentionally secured by its leash!

It became evident to her that this was no accidental fall into the river. Someone had deliberately attempted to harm the dog by drowning it. Realizing the urgency, Jane sprang into action.

With remarkable resolve and speed, she managed to pull the dog from the water. But her efforts didn’t stop at the river.

She swiftly transported the Belgian Shepherd, later named Bella, to a nearby veterinary clinic.

The veterinary team dedicated themselves to ensuring Bella’s health and facilitating her recovery from the traumatic encounter. Fortunately, their efforts bore fruit, and Bella began to show signs of improvement.

In the meantime, authorities sprang into action. Jane notified them about the incident, prompting an investigation by the police.

Interestingly, Bella had been microchipped in 2010, enabling the authorities to trace her owner.

This crucial lead directed them to a woman named Charlene Latham, aged 31.

Without delay, law enforcement apprehended Latham on charges of animal cruelty. Thankfully, justice was swiftly served.

In court, Latham confessed to her attempt to drown Bella, while Bella continued to recover at the veterinary clinic.

Though her strength was limited, she began to exhibit encouraging signs as time progressed. There was growing optimism regarding her complete recovery.

This courageous dog still has a journey ahead, but thanks to Jane’s intervention, along with the efforts of the veterinary staff and the police, she now has a chance at a hopeful future, free from harm.
