When it comes to a dog’s love, there are no rules! Even those who believe they are immune to the canine effect find themselves pleasantly surprised when they lock eyes with one. Take TJ, a Wisconsin man who, despite his initial resistance, has utterly fallen for Bear, the blind dog he adopted with his fiancée, Angie. What began as opposition to bringing Bear into their home has transformed into an unbreakable bond, with TJ now relishing his role as the proud father of this furry companion!
From Being Overlooked To Being His Dad’s Best Friend

Bear’s journey to happiness was filled with bumps. He was surrendered to a Wisconsin shelter with his siblings when he was just a few weeks old. While all his brothers and sisters quickly found homes, Bear remained overlooked until Angie laid eyes on him. Upon seeing him, she knew he had to come home with her, despite the initial hesitance from her fiancé, TJ. After much persuasion, TJ finally agreed, and he soon realized he should have said yes much earlier.
“At first, my fiancé was not for it at all. I had to beg. And he ended up being TJ’s best friend,” Angie shared with GeoBeats Animals. Instantly, Bear found comfort in TJ, leading to cozy cuddle sessions that solidified their bond.
Interestingly, despite having a mix of large breeds in him, Bear has become known as the cuddliest lap dog around. His motto is simple: Why worry about being part Mastiff or St. Bernard when he can comfortably snuggle on the couch or bed? He effortlessly crawled into the hearts of his new family, becoming the prince of the house and bewildering them with how quickly he learned to navigate his surroundings!
“Being Different Doesn’t Make You Incapable”

Bear’s disability doesn’t hold him back! Born blind, he has nearly mastered the behavior of a typical dog, seamlessly climbing stairs and knowing where all his toys reside. Even when seeking out cuddles or nap time, he effortlessly jumps onto the bed or couch. To the untrained observer, Bear appears to be a fully capable dog.
“His other senses are so strong. He hears the sounds of how far away things are if you tap, so that’s one of the biggest things we do – we tap on things so he knows where they are,” Angie notes.

Angie and TJ treasure Bear’s presence in their lives as he continually reminds them that being different is not a limitation but a strength. “The biggest thing we learned from him is that disability is not inability. Just because you have something that’s different about you doesn’t make you incapable,” Angie wraps up. Bear lives life to the fullest and has become a star on Instagram and TikTok, dazzling his followers every day. What a truly remarkable boy!
