Every dog deserves an owner who loves them and ensures their safety and well-being. Unfortunately, some negligent owners abandon these loyal and loving animals, disregarding their fate. Today, we’ll share the story of Gibbs, an adorable 6-week-old puppy who experienced the pain of abandonment when he was discovered in a dark cardboard box placed outside a shelter at night.
In the stillness of the night, Gibbs cried for help, desperate for someone to hear his pleas and rescue him. A staff member at a shelter in Orangeburg, South Carolina, returned after realizing they had forgotten something. Approaching the entrance, they were taken aback to find a box labeled ‘small’ on a nearby bench. Just as they prepared to open it, they heard the haunting cries of a puppy.
Finding A Tiny Surprise
When they opened the box, they were greeted by the most innocent and sweetest puppy eyes staring back at them. Despite the sad situation, there was hope in the puppy’s expression. The staff member took Gibbs inside, where he was fed and cared for, relieved to be rescued by a kind soul. The team at the shelter felt a mix of sadness and gratitude—sad that he had been discarded, but thankful that they had returned to the shelter that night.
Moving To A Foster Home
The next day, the shelter shared Gibbs’ story on Facebook, and as soon as the team at Eunoia Rescue in Charleston, South Carolina, saw the post, they immediately decided to take him in. Their hearts melted when they first saw him, unable to comprehend how someone could abandon such a lovable little puppy. After giving him a thorough bath to rid him of fleas and worms, they found that he was otherwise healthy. His new friends at the shelter showered him with love and cuddles.
“He LOVES other dogs and acts like he weighs 50 pounds instead of just a measly 4 pounds and will chase all his foster siblings around. He’s happy, healthy and just waiting to be big enough to be neutered before he’s adopted,” Eunoia Rescue said.
I am so grateful that compassionate individuals stepped in to save Gibbs and provide him with the care and affection he truly deserves. There’s no doubt that this beautiful puppy will soon find a loving family and the forever home he is destined for.
