Two-Week-Old Puppy Abandoned by Her Mom Finds the Perfect Human to Care for Her

Date:

It’s difficult to consider, but the animal kingdom can be quite unpredictable. Unforeseen events occur, and their causes can often leave us puzzled.

Take small puppies, for example; there are instances when their mothers reject them. While this is a tragic reality, it does happen in nature.

Nonetheless, there is always a silver lining. In this particular case, a compassionate rescuer stepped in to offer a newborn puppy a second chance at life.

Introducing Shramp

When Shramp was discovered by her rescuer in Texas, she had unfortunately been rejected by her mother and was in dire need of assistance.

Upon being examined, the rescuer noticed that one of Shramp’s eyes seemed to have an ulcer.

Additionally, because she was very malnourished, it was challenging to ascertain her exact age, but she was estimated to be approximately two weeks old.

To add to the distressing situation, Shramp had multiple injuries and wounds that required immediate attention.

The first priority for her rescuer was to ensure she was fed properly so that she could start to recover.

With someone dedicated to care for her, the chances of her recovering looked promising.

Her rescuer had to provide round-the-clock care, as Shramp remained too delicate and needed constant support.

A Fortunate Turn of Events

Day by day, Shramp was showing remarkable improvement. Her desire to live was evident in her increasingly cheerful demeanor.

Now that she was on the mend, the caring woman who rescued her decided to provide Shramp with her own cozy kennel for restful naps.

It’s safe to say that Shramp adored it and spends plenty of time curled up in her new little spot.

After approximately 11 days under her rescuer’s care, it was time for Shramp’s follow-up checkup at the veterinarian clinic in Texas.

The veterinarian assessed her eye and found that the inflammation had subsided, but still, there were more challenges ahead in her recovery journey.

Nevertheless, the veterinarians suggested a referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist for further evaluation, as they suspected she might have anterior synechiae.

She also had a minor hernia and possible hydrocephalus. For now, she will continue her recovery at home until the appointment.

Shramp has a wonderful companion in Theodore Charleston, the dog, who loves to spend time with her.

Even though Charleston cannot always keep up with her energy, he is always there to look after her.

A New Beginning

After receiving her first vaccination, she finally had the chance to engage with the other dogs in the household, all of whom were charmed by her affectionate nature.

She is clearly thriving in her new family environment, and her personality shines more each day.

As the time approached for her next veterinary visit, there were concerns about potentially devastating news. In order to assist Shramp, they would need to perform an eye removal.

While this was a difficult decision, it was necessary, and she was expected to make a full recovery afterward.

The surgery was successful, and Shramp is expected to be alright. The veterinarians allowed her caretaker to take her home that same day, advising constant supervision.

Despite experiencing such a challenging surgery, she quickly returned to her joyful self in just a few days and started playing with her caretaker and the other dogs.

Thanks to Shramp’s incredible resilience and the compassion of her rescuer, she can now relish all that life has to offer, surrounded by a loving family and playful siblings.
