When dedicated rescuers from Trio Animal Foundation rescued a pregnant dog named Lily from a cruel breeder, their thoughts immediately turned to the happiness and well-being of her puppies in their care.
The first priority was to ensure that Lily had all the comforts and necessities she desired.
And since these kind-hearted humans adored animals, that’s precisely what she received.
One Happy Mama
The first course of action was to take Lily to the Companion Animal Hospital in Wicker Park, Chicago, where X-rays were taken of her abdomen. The results showed that Lily was expecting 7 puppies.
This news brought immense joy to everyone involved.
After thorough examination, the Chicago veterinarians decided that an emergency C-section was necessary for Lily, which took place the following day.
Sadly, one puppy did not survive, but the remaining six, along with their mama, were in excellent health.
Post-delivery, Lily felt unwell. She grew fatigued and even stopped eating or drinking. Just four days later, she required another emergency surgery.
The vets diagnosed complications related to her C-section that deteriorated her condition.
To aid Lily’s recovery, the medical team took on the role of caretakers, ensuring her puppies had all they needed.
This nurturing continued for ten days, with the puppies being fed via a syringe and mama receiving thorough medication for her fast recovery.
As time passed, unfortunately, yet another of Lily’s puppies did not survive. Despite the heartbreak, she was resolved to reunite with her surviving pups.
After twenty days of intensive medical care, Lily was finally back with her puppies.
The joy that washed over this proud mother upon seeing her little ones again was beyond words.
New Life
With the passing days, Lily regained her strength while her puppies blossomed into bigger, cuter versions of themselves.
They enjoyed wandering around their kennel and engaging in playful antics, but their absolute favorite moments were when mama would join in.
Of course, after each play session, a mandatory nap was non-negotiable.
With time, I trust that each of these wonderful pups will discover a caring family that will continue to provide them with the affectionate and enriching life they rightfully deserve.
