This Dog Might Not Be the Brightest, But He More Than Makes Up for It with His Hilarious Antics!

Date:

When it comes to adopting dogs, one aspect that you often can’t anticipate is their unique personality.

Sure, you can make some educated guesses based on their initial behavior, but truly understanding them takes time.

In rare cases, however, some dogs seem to instantly bond with their new owners and make it clear that they’re there for them.

Living with these kinds of dogs is usually a source of endless amusement. Today, we’ll share the story of one such dog who was given a new opportunity and embraced it wholeheartedly.

Duncan’s Backstory

After losing her first dog to an illness, Duncan’s owner was understandably hesitant to adopt another.

Yet, when she encountered Duncan at a shelter in Chicago, something about his gaze made her feel a deep connection.

Thus, she chose to bring him home and give him a chance. The shelter staff mentioned that he had been found as a stray, suggesting he might not have had an owner.

There were speculations that he may have previously been owned by someone who mistreated dogs, but this could never be verified.

Once he settled into her home, she discovered that Duncan had a remarkably lively personality, one she had never encountered before.

She quickly realized he had a penchant for trying to eat rain and snow, which she found absolutely hilarious.

She told GeoBeats Animals: “Initially, he would jump up on his hind legs and take playful nibbles at things, but now he’s more into growling and barking.

In addition to these antics, Duncan has a comically unique way of drinking from a water fountain, and he struggles to catch treats thrown his way.

One of his quirkiest habits, however, is the way he dramatically fights with his own tail.

For some inexplicable reason, he views it as an adversary and spends considerable time trying to catch it, but always comes up short.

Duncan’s New Friend

Since relocating to the suburbs of Chicago, Duncan has taken quite a liking to visiting the construction workers nearby, always eager to greet them.

Despite his amusing quirks, his owner has been impressed by his ability to maintain routines and follow commands. This revelation opened her eyes to Duncan’s capabilities.

Everything changed when Duncan met his new companion, a cat named Coco.

The two hit it off wonderfully, which was surprising for their owner, as Duncan had previously shown little interest in other dogs but seemed to have an affinity for cats.

Even when his previous feline friend passed away, Duncan was significantly affected, refusing to leave the bathtub for quite some time.

Fortunately, with Coco in his life, everything has transformed. The pair has become inseparable, enjoying playtime together while respecting each other’s toys.

Their owner commented: “For a dog that isn’t fond of other dogs, the way he loves her is simply beautiful.”

One of their favorite pastimes is napping together, which they both relish completely.

Duncan has truly made a difference in his owner’s life, exemplifying how much dogs can positively impact our lives through their delightful behavior.
