This Dog Employs a Comedic Approach to Communicate with Her Family

Date:

This sweet brindle Pittie named Mya has a unique way of expressing herself.

Whenever she carries her bowl in her mouth, it’s her signal that she has something to communicate.

Most of the time, this means she’s telling her mom, Briana Maiola, that she’s hungry.

“Mya uses bowls to express various needs. She makes a lot of noises, wiggles around energetically, and follows you closely while staring,” Briana told The Dodo.

On occasion, she also utilizes her bowl to indicate that she needs to go outside.

“She will pace back and forth to a window or door with her bowl, dropping it at the door with a loud clang!” she added.

Recently, Mya has started using her bowl to send a new message to a new audience… her siblings, Scrappy and Kekie.

Reserved Spot

Whenever Mya intends to take a nap on her favorite bed but isn’t quite ready to sleep, she places her bowl on the bed to let her siblings know that spot is taken.

“We often discover bowls placed in beds, on couches, or various cozy spots to ‘reserve her space’. Mya drops a bowl and returns when she’s ready for her nap!” Briana mentioned.

This simple act of Mya’s to “mark her territory” brings Briana immense joy, and observing the reactions of her siblings enhances the experience.

“Most of the time, her very tolerant siblings will honor the bowl and find another place to rest. But occasionally, the spot is just too tempting, and they will disregard the bowl” she noted.

When this situation arises, Briana allows Scrappy and Kekie to stay undisturbed, knowing it’s their bed too. Fortunately, Mya is generally accommodating about sharing her favorite spot.

“Mya often makes herself comfortable on the bed regardless. When there’s a particularly cozy spot, she might display an exaggeratedly sad face, hoping that one of us will clear the area for her,” Briana expressed.

Unbreakable Bond

Despite occasional squabbles about who gets the bed first, these three siblings are inseparable.

“Mya and her siblings are the best of friends. They are always together!” Briana shared.

After expending their energy playing in the backyard, they always cuddle up together for a group nap.

And, even though Mya can be a little dramatic at times, she’s very much a part of the family. “Mya is truly a remarkable little girl who has taught us so much. She’s the happiest, bounciest, and most dramatic little dog I’ve ever known. We adore her immensely!” Briana concluded.
