If dog breeds were a vibrant canvas, Peanut would be the Picasso of pups – a furry creation showcasing 13 different style brushstrokes!
With a delightful combination of a big, squishy face and large, floppy ears blended onto a small dog’s body… it’s like an extraordinary, yet unconventional jigsaw puzzle of breeds.
Ultimately, each breed comes together seamlessly to form this one-of-a-kind furball of companionship.
Now, let’s focus on a woman whose heart matches her smile, as she chose to open her home to this extraordinary companion.
Step by step, an ideal blend of fur and friendship emerged, just as unique as the pup himself.
A Supermutt Extraordinaire

Peanut was surrendered to Nevada Humane Society, in Reno.
His previous owners adored him; however, they lacked the financial means to address his dental issues, which led to them giving him up.
After having his teeth extracted, the shelter sought a foster home for Peanut during his recovery, and thankfully, they found a perfect match.
“The dog care manager asked if I’d be open to fostering him. I agreed right away. I had just lost my first rescue dog a few days prior. After about a week, I realized I wanted to keep him because he was such an incredible dog who needed a loving home.”
Kristin’s first rescue dog was named Petey.
He was an old, overweight dog that was often overlooked at the shelter.
After five wonderful years filled with love and loyalty with Petey, Kristin chose to start volunteering at the Reno shelter.
Her volunteering experience led her to join the board of directors and eventually work full-time at the shelter.

Just a few days after losing Petey, Kristin met Peanut and immediately fell in love with this extraordinary pup.
“He captured my heart instantly,” Kristin shared with GeoBeats Animals. “When I first saw him, knowing I was going to foster him, he had this look in his eyes, like ‘can you help me? I’m feeling so sad and scared’.”
But Peanut is far from an ordinary dog in need of help.
His unique appearance speaks volumes about how special he is.
Peanut’s DNA Reveal

Thanks to his distinct looks, people often liken Peanut to Baby Yoda, a bunny, or even a gerbil.
“He boasts a big dog face atop a tiny dog body — all that includes a big, squishy visage, enormous floppy ears, and a petite Chihuahua frame,” Kristin noted.
After getting his DNA tested, the results brought more questions than clarity. “He doesn’t seem to look like any of his breeds,” Kristin remarked.
Corgi? No.
Could it be a Shar Pei?? Absolutely not.
How about a Frenchie? Negative again.

In an impressive turn of events, Peanut turned out to be a mixture of a total of 13 different breeds.
His top five breeds are: Chihuahua, Dachshund, Shih Tzu, Samoyed, and Pekingese.
The remaining breeds include Pomeranian, Poodle (Toy and Mini), Chow Chow, Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, Border Collie, Mini American Shepherd, and Nordic Spitz.

“I simply refer to him as a supermutt extraordinaire. He’s truly one of the most distinct dogs ever.”
Peanut shares a wonderful connection with Kristin. He’s always by her side, and she cherishes having him close.
At home, she looks after three senior rescue dogs and three rescue cats, and Peanut gets along exceptionally well with all his furry siblings.

“Rescue animals are some of the most remarkable and genuine souls, and they all deserve the opportunity for a loving forever home. Peanut is a truly exceptional companion. He brings joy, peace, and comfort to countless lives. I just hope he understands how special he is,” Kristin expressed.
