Winter may be my favorite season, but I acknowledge that it poses significant challenges, not just for humans but for stray animals too. Strays often find it hard to seek shelter in the snow, and hunting for food becomes nearly impossible in the freezing weather. They have no choice but to continue searching for assistance, as the alternative is dire. Witnessing their plight can be heart-wrenching, which is why it’s crucial that we extend our help whenever possible.
In Texas, a kind woman named Mayra Luna spotted a family of stray dogs huddled in the snow and promptly reached out to a rescue organization for help.
Rescuing The Family

Upon receiving the call about the vulnerable dog family, Mayra quickly sprang into action to assist them. It didn’t take long for her to reach the site and what she found was heartbreaking.
The entire family of dogs was curled up in the snow, and upon closer inspection, Mayra discovered that the puppies were merely a few days old. Despite their harsh situation, they appeared healthy and well-fed thanks to their mother.

Luna shared with The Dodo: “I was surprised to find them in such good condition. Their mother had done an amazing job of keeping them warm and fed.” Once she confirmed that Luna intended to help her puppies, the mother dog relaxed and welcomed Mayra. Recognizing she was in good hands, Luna proceeded to coax her into the vehicle.
With the mother dog willingly following her, the rescue was surprisingly smooth. After successfully loading the puppies, Luna was relieved.
A New Journey Forward

Upon returning to her Texas home, she provided the family with warmth and comfort. Luna reassured their mother, saying, “Your babies are safe now, and you did an incredible job caring for them.”
While they weren’t severely harmed, the puppies did suffer from frostbite and the mother faced digestive issues. After a few days of treatment, the entire family began to recover under Luna’s care, progressing better with each passing day.
Before long, the puppies were opening their eyes and seemed to be growing fond of their rescuer. Everything felt new to them, inspiring curiosity as they explored the house, particularly enjoying Luna’s guidance.

She remarked, “The puppies reach new milestones daily, from opening their eyes and tilting their heads at sounds to wagging their tails when either my sister or I enter the room.”
They named the family: the mother is Ember, while the puppies are Phoenix, Pyra, Kindle, Spark, and Cinder. Although they’re thriving, the puppies need a bit more time before they’re ready for adoption.
In the meantime, Luna will continue caring for them, ensuring they grow into strong, healthy dogs that will bring joy to their future families.
