Imagine strolling through your hometown, minding your own business, when suddenly, faint sounds catch your attention. Investigating the source, you discover – a box containing 7 tiny puppies.
The Most Unlikely Scenario
The woman opened the box and found 7 puppies trapped inside, apparently abandoned overnight, struggling to breathe. A heavy water hose weighed down the box, preventing the puppies from escaping, so they tried to nudge it open for fresh air.
Fortunately, the woman was a rescue volunteer and promptly sought shelter and assistance for the puppies. She reached out to various dog shelters in San Antonio, but sadly, none could accommodate the additional needs. A Facebook post noted, every shelter was overwhelmed, and the only option presented was euthanasia. The woman was unwilling to consider that solution and continued her search for help.
With limited options remaining, she reached out to Tattered Paws And Golden Hearts Rescue (TPGHR). Even though they were also overwhelmed, she felt it was worth a shot.
The Hopeful Resolution
The puppies were presented to Nancy Rieley, the president of TPGHR, who felt a deep responsibility for their fate, commenting, it’s an awful feeling looking at seven little puppies and being the reason that they live or die. Fortunately, Nancy decided to assist in their recovery until they could find forever homes.
These puppies are mixed breeds, approximately 4 to 5 weeks old, consisting of 2 girls and 5 boys. TPGHR assured that they would receive the necessary medical care.
The woman who found them is now fostering them through TPGHR. Although they still face a journey toward finding their permanent homes, they are finally receiving the support they desperately need. It’s heartbreaking to consider what might have happened if not for her intervention.
However, it’s reassuring to know that organizations like Tattered Paws and Golden Hearts are there, providing the chance for these puppies to live long, happy lives.
