Winter is my favorite season, yet it presents significant challenges for everyone, including stray animals who struggle to find shelter and food in the harsh conditions. Witnessing their plight is heartbreaking, making it crucial for us to offer help where we can.
When a kind woman from Texas discovered a family of stray dogs lying in the snow, she promptly contacted a rescuer for assistance.
Rescuing The Family

Mayra Luna wasted no time after hearing about the dog family and immediately drove to their location, where she discovered a heartbreaking scene: the entire family lay helplessly in the snow. Upon closer inspection, she learned that the puppies were merely a few days old yet appeared healthy and well-fed thanks to their caring mother.

After assessing the situation, Luna expressed her surprise to The Dodo: “When I first got word of them, I figured I would find them in a frail state, but their mom had done such a tremendous job of keeping them warm and fed.” With the understanding that she was there to help, the mama dog warmly greeted Luna, who then guided her to the vehicle without any hesitation.
A New Journey Forward

Once safe at home, Luna ensured the dog family was warm and comfortable, reassuring the mama dog that her puppies were safe and that she had done a fantastic job as a mother. Despite their survival, the puppies suffered from frostbite and their mother faced digestive issues, but after a few days of treatment, their health improved significantly under Luna’s care.
Soon enough, the puppies began to open their eyes and showed curiosity about their new environment. They eagerly explored their new home, following Luna’s every move. Luna described their development: “The puppies hit new milestones each day, like opening their eyes, tilting their heads when they hear the door, or wagging their tails when my sister or I walk in the room.”

The puppies, aptly named Ember (the mother), Phoenix, Pyra, Kindle, Spark, and Cinder, evolved remarkably under Luna’s care. While they are flourishing now, they will require more time before being ready for adoption. Luna’s commitment ensures they will grow into healthy, happy dogs, poised to bring joy to someone special in the future.
