When a small puppy was found stranded on a roof, it astonished everyone how he ended up in such a precarious situation. Scared and alone, he lay there hoping for rescue, showcasing the kindness of humanity.
The residents of the apartment complex quickly took action. One of them contacted the compassionate team at Austin Animal Center in Texas, and assistance arrived promptly.
Desperate And In Need Of Help
Animal protection officers, Staci Figueroa and Erica Cerza, arrived on the scene within minutes. Stunned to see the puppy perched on the roof, they learned he had somehow walked down a hallway and slipped through the railing without knowing how to return.
The rescuers spotted a small hole in the metal near the puppy, which posed a danger of him falling through. Understanding the urgency, Staci and Erica wasted no time in devising a plan.
They collaborated with a resident to remove a picket from a fence that was adjacent to the roof, making it easier to reach the puppy.
Once they had a clear view, Cerza reached out to the puppy. As AAC shared on Facebook,
“With the help of a resident and her handy dandy screwdriver, our officers were able to remove one of the pickets from the fence and get the little guy out. Once he was safe, the picket was replaced as if nothing had happened,”
Successful Rescue Mission
Upon being safely rescued, the puppy settled peacefully in Cerza’s arms, showing no signs of fear or anxiety, though he appeared a bit bewildered. Moments later, his playful spirit emerged as he began to play with her hair, indicating he was feeling more at ease.
After securing his safety, the rescuers advised the apartment management to inform residents in case anyone had lost the puppy, but unfortunately, no one came forward.
He was transported to the facility, receiving further care and given the name – Wicket! This charming pup quickly blossomed, showcasing his playful and loving nature. Ultimately, Wicket was rewarded with the best possible outcome: he found a wonderful new home.
“No one came forward, and ‘Wicket’ was adopted to a new home last week,” the rescue shared on Facebook. Now, he basks in the love of his forever family, trading his days of uncertainty for joyful adventures and companionship – everything he could ever dream of!
