When this little puppy was discovered stranded on a roof, everyone was surprised at how he ended up there. Scared and alone, he was in desperate need of help, lying there and hoping for a rescue.
The residents of the apartment complex quickly sprang into action. One of them contacted the dedicated team at Austin Animal Center, Texas, who responded without delay.
Desperate And In Need Of Help
Staci Figueroa and her colleague, Erica Cerza, arrived on the scene shortly after, astonished by how the puppy ended up stranded. The little guy had traversed the hallway and fallen through the railing onto the roof – but unfortunately, he had no idea how to return!
The rescuers noticed a dangerous gap in the metal near the puppy. If he slipped through, the situation could become dire, prompting Staci and Erica to act swiftly. They collaborated with a resident to remove one of the fence pickets adjacent to the roof using a screwdriver, simplifying their rescue efforts.
Once they had a clear view of the puppy, Cerza reached for him.
“With the help of a resident and her handy dandy screwdriver, our officers were able to remove one of the pickets from the fence and get the little guy out. Once he was safe, the picket was replaced as if nothing had happened,” AAC shared on Facebook.
Successful Rescue Mission
Once secured in Cerza’s arms, the puppy relaxed and showed no signs of fear, just a bit of confusion. Moments later, he began playfully fiddling with her hair, showing he was finally at ease. The rescuers requested the apartment management to inform residents about the lost puppy, but sadly, no one claimed him.
He was then safely taken to the center, where he received further care and was given the name “Wicket.” This playful little guy blossomed in just a few days, showcasing his sweet nature. As a reward for his friendly demeanor, he was soon surprised with a new family.
“No one came forward, and Wicket was adopted to a new home last week,” shared the rescue on Facebook.
Now, Wicket enjoys life as a beloved companion, far from decaying roofs and the uncertainties of his past, filled with exciting adventures and unconditional love.
