Rescue operations are a routine practice for the dedicated team at Saving Hope Rescue (SHR), an animal rescue organization located in Fort Worth, Texas.
Their commitment involves scouring their vibrant city for animals in dire need of assistance and compassion.
While they typically focus on rescues within Fort Worth, upon encountering distressing images of a dog living in a cardboard box, they swiftly gathered their supplies and set off on a mission.
Help Is On The Way
After an exhausting 8-hour drive, the passionate rescuers were determined to ensure this precious pup would be resting comfortably as night approached.
“We had this sweet girl transported to the DFW area, having just seen a picture of her in a cardboard box,” noted Saving Hope Rescue on Facebook.
Upon arriving at the location, the volunteers gently secured the pup, later named Ridley, into their vehicle and transported her to SHR’s clinic, where she was greeted with warmth, delightful snacks, and plenty of affection.
Unfortunate News
When SHR’s team rescued Ridley, she was a spirited three-month-old puppy. Despite her cheerful and playful demeanor, a thorough medical examination revealed that all was not well.
“We discovered she had a serious heart defect. It could only be repaired with a balloon valvuloplasty procedure at Texas A&M,” stated SHR.
Fortunately, while awaiting approval for her procedure, Ridley was welcomed into a nurturing foster family, where she could relax and experience the joys of being a typical puppy.
Her new foster family, along with her furry siblings, ensured she felt safe and reassured her that all would be well!
“Ridley is a small, playful 3-month-old puppy who adores large dogs and all people. She’s very intelligent and quick to learn … A lively little girl with so much affection to share!” her foster parents conveyed to SHR and later posted on Facebook.
While Ridley was thriving at her foster home, the Fort Worth shelter tirelessly worked to secure funding for her heart surgery. During this time, she learned essential commands, honed her social skills with other dogs, and discovered her love for toys.
Though her heart condition remained a source of worry for her caregivers, witnessing her joy and spirited nature reminded them of her fighting spirit.
One Happy Life
After months of anticipation, the momentous day finally arrived. Ridley underwent her crucial surgery!
Much to everyone’s relief, this remarkable pup sailed through the procedure without a hitch and is now on the mend.
“[With] this surgery, it will be a complete fix, and she gets to live a FULL life,” SHR enthusiastically shared on Facebook.
Ridley is anticipated to recover fully in the near future. Until then, she is back at her foster home, sharing tales of her bravery with her furry friends.
Once completely healed, it won’t be long before she finds a wonderful forever home that matches her incredible spirit.
