Texas Discovery: Mystery Animal Revealed, Shocking Everyone with Its True Identity

Date:

Earlier this year, officers from the Dallas Police Department discovered a very young animal huddled next to a dumpster during a routine patrol in southern Dallas, Texas. This adorable creature appeared to be a caramel-colored puppy-lookalike, but the officers were puzzled about its true identity. It bore a striking resemblance to a baby fox or even a coyote, and the officers couldn’t confirm what it was. Regardless of its identity, the little one urgently needed help, so the police officers kept it safe and warm until Dallas Animal Services arrived to take it in.

Puppy Or Coyote?

The situation surrounding this “mystery animal” generated significant media buzz nationwide. Was it a puppy or a coyote, and what would be its fate? While officials at Dallas Animal Services suspected it wasn’t a coyote, they couldn’t definitively confirm its species. The animal indeed had coyote-like features.

Jacqui Sutherland, an officer with Dallas Animal Services who took on the role of its temporary foster parent, expressed her thoughts, saying, “My money is on domestic. If I had money, it would be on domestic.” With its tan coat and big ears, the uncertainty of its origins hovered. To resolve the confusion, they decided to conduct a DNA test, aiming to clarify the matter once and for all.

As they awaited the test results, they affectionately named the “mystery animal.” Meet Toast – the quirkiest little enigma in Texas.

After nearly two weeks of anticipation, Embark Vet eventually provided the long-awaited results. “Toast is a DOG! 🐶 As we suspected, she turned out to be a beautiful little mutt,” announced Dallas Animal Services in their Facebook post.

Her DNA results showed she is:

42% German Shepherd

38% Siberian Husky

20% Australian Cattle Dog

For weeks, Toast had the Internet guessing whether she was just a puppy or a coyote, but the mystery has been resolved. She is a delightful puppy who was rescued from a life of rummaging through dumpsters.

Now that Toast’s breed has been established, the next step was to find her a forever home. Remarkably, it took only five minutes for her to receive the maximum number of adoption applications, leading to her swift adoption!

“Toast has found a home, but the Dallas area is overwhelmed with dogs, including many large-breed dogs and mothers with pups in need of fosters and forever homes,” Embark Vet stated in their Facebook post.
