A Texas couple was thrilled to embark on their long-awaited trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, packing all the essentials before rushing to the Lubbock airport. They anticipated a routine baggage check and swift boarding, unaware of the surprise awaiting them.
Their Sneaky Chihuahua

As Jared and Kristi Owens approached the plane, airport staff informed them that one of their bags was six pounds overweight and required checking. They were taken aback, but the real surprise came when they opened the bag to find their senior Chihuahua, Icky, peeking from inside Jared’s boot, managing to sneak in unnoticed during packing.
“You know it’s going to be an epic trip to Vegas when you get to the airport to check your bags…. 6lbs overweight, and out pops a chihuahua from your boot!! Unreal!” Jared shared in a Facebook post.

Initially shocked, they soon realized it was typical Icky behavior. “We were dumbfounded and flat shocked and embarrassed, to be honest. She loves to burrow in our laundry baskets, closet, blankets, wherever she can get nice, warm, and comfy, and on that day, I guess she chose our suitcase,” Jared explained to FOX 29 News Philadelphia.
Luckily, a friendly airport employee found the situation amusing rather than embarrassing.
Airport Employee Saves The Day

As the plane was preparing for departure, Jared and Kristi were in a bind regarding Icky. Fortunately, an enthusiastic employee named Cathy offered to look after Icky until their return. Grateful for her kindness, Jared exclaimed, “Shout out to Cathy with #southwestairlines for her awesome customer service!! She offered to watch Icky until we got back!! Let’s go!!”
Before takeoff, Jared called family friends, who quickly arrived to retrieve Icky and take her home. Though a bit frustrated by their furry friend, they bid Icky and Cathy a warm farewell before finally taking off on their adventure. Looking back, they appreciated the unexpected turn of events, realizing that if Icky hadn’t made her surprise appearance, they wouldn’t have greeted such a joyful face.
