Tika’s transformation from miserable to fortunate occurred in just a single day. This emaciated dog, on the verge of death, had suffered severe facial wounds from a vicious animal attack and was barely clinging to life.
While waiting for her last moments, hope seemed lost until she crossed paths with a compassionate Border Patrol agent.
Saved At The Last Moment
Upon the agent’s first encounter with Tika, it was evident that her condition was critical. The left side of her face was severely injured, putting her at serious risk of infection. The Buddy Foundation, located in Eagle Pass, Texas, shared on Facebook, “Sweet Tika was rescued in her last moments on Earth, and she was in agony.” Although the specifics of the attack were unclear, Tika’s dire state told a heartbreaking story.
Without hesitation, the agent rushed Tika to a shelter in Texas, saving her life just in the nick of time. Had she spent another day in the wild, she certainly would have perished.
“Tika is a walking miracle, and we’re grateful we found her when we did. She wouldn’t have survived another day,” her rescuers stated.
However, Tika’s struggles weren’t over. This poor girl couldn’t eat or even stand and required professional veterinary care, prompting her transfer to a local clinic. For the first ten days, she received around-the-clock care and IV treatments.
Thanks to the determination of her caregivers, Tika began to show signs of improvement. Seeing her eat from a syringe for the first time was a precious moment and marked a turning point in her recovery.
Everyone, Meet Princess Tika
After several days snuggled under a blanket, Tika finally took her first steps, signaling that she was prepared for a foster home. The rescue found her a wonderful foster mom who embraced this little girl, allowing her to flourish in her new surroundings and transform into a little princess.
She found joy in every aspect of her new life, including the comfy dog bed her foster mom prepared for her. However, Tika faced another hurdle: she was diagnosed with canine epilepsy, which causes occasional seizures. Despite this, she remains a happy pup who cherishes her new life!
Tika is incredibly grateful for her salvation, with her rescuers affirming, “She’s thankful to everyone who came together to save her life just in time. Today she is alive and content.” Her kind spirit and enthusiasm for life empower her to face challenges, ultimately helping her foster mom realize that Tika was meant to be a permanent family member.
After several joyful weeks in foster care, Tika was finally adopted. She now enjoys a loving home and a family that adores her. Leaving her past behind, Tika has embraced the meaning of love and happiness!
