Tennessee Rescuers Discover Two Puppies Cuddled on Street in Frigid Weather and Take Swift Action

Date:

Winter is an arduous season for our four-legged companions. Regardless of how well they are fed, without adequate shelter, dogs face severe risks of hypothermia on frigid days. Unfortunately, for Moose and Greta, such shelter was nonexistent.

This inseparable duo roamed the streets of Memphis, Tennessee, never parting ways even in dire conditions. During the snowstorm and freezing temperatures, they found solace next to each other, hoping to endure.

A Heartbreaking Sight

Suzy Hollenbach from All 4s Rescue League was aware of Moose and Greta’s plight and rushed to assist. She recalled seeing them huddled on scraps or in fields behind a corner store; despite several attempts to rescue them, nothing materialized. When she found them enduring the snow behind the store during the storm, she contacted Memphis Animal Services about their freezing condition. However, with no room available, she took matters into her own hands.

Suzy successfully found a foster home for both Moose and Greta on the same day, where volunteer Rebecca welcomed them in. However, within the next 24 hours, what she witnessed truly broke her heart. After enduring the streets and eventually settling in, both pups fell into an exhausted sleep for the entire day.

To everyone’s surprise, their adjustment was swift, and the love they began to share was felt by all.

The Pawfect Outcome

What appeared to be a long journey to find a foster home transformed when Shannon Carpenter stepped in. This compassionate foster agreed to take Moose and Greta into her home, thinking it would be a temporary arrangement until they found a permanent family. However, within weeks, the pair blossomed into delightful companions, mastering house manners and bonding closely with Shannon.

Shannon noted, “They never leave my side unless I have to go somewhere they can’t go. No leash. They know where home is very well. Such good babies,” proving that their history did not dictate their future.

Not long after receiving them into her home, Shannon realized she could not let Moose and Greta go. Hence, she decided to adopt them permanently! Now, the trio enjoys a beautiful life on a farm, filled with endless adventures and fun.

“I’m so proud to have these guys! They have taken to the farm. Horses, riding in my van, my work truck, the carriage (with trainee), and you can literally take them ANYWHERE… I’m so blessed to have the smartest ride-or-die dogs in Memphis, in just a few months,” Shannon shared in a Facebook post.

This journey began as a temporary foster arrangement but has blossomed into a forever home—a true pawfect combination for Moose, Greta, and Shannon!
