Tennessee Rescuers Devastated After Discovering Two Dogs Snuggled Together on the Street in Frigid Cold

Date:

Winter can be harsh on our furry friends. No matter the care or food they receive, dogs without adequate shelter face serious risks like hypothermia, especially in the frigid cold.

Such was the case for Moose and Greta, a bonded pair of pups found wandering the streets of Memphis, Tennessee. They sought comfort in each other during the worst conditions, curling up together amidst freezing temperatures and a snowstorm.

A Heartbreaking Sight

Suzy Hollenbach from the All 4s Rescue League was aware of Moose and Greta’s plight and immediately took action.

“I would see them sleeping on junk scraps or in the field behind the corner store. We called them in several times to get them safe, but nothing happened. Fast forward to the storm, and there they were, curled along the back of the store, enduring the snow,” she shared on the rescue’s Facebook.

After alerting Memphis Animal Services about the dogs’ dire condition, she learned that they had no space available for Moose and Greta. Without hesitation, Suzy decided to take matters into her own hands.

Thanks to her organization, Suzy quickly found a foster home for these two stray beauties. The kind-hearted volunteer, Rebecca, welcomed them into her home, but what she witnessed in the following 24 hours was utterly heart-wrenching.

After finally settling in, Moose and Greta fell into a deep sleep for the entire day! Exhausted and weak from their struggles on the streets, all they needed was a long, well-deserved nap.

The Pawfect Outcome

Initially, it appeared that the journey for Moose and Greta to find a loving foster or permanent home would be lengthy. However, Shannon Carpenter stepped in, proving everyone wrong!

This generous foster took them in, providing a safe space until they could be adopted. Yet, as time went on, it became clear to Shannon that she simply couldn’t let them go.

Not long after welcoming Moose and Greta, Shannon realized she had found her forever companions. She decided to adopt them – for good!

Now, the wonderful trio shares a farm life filled with endless adventures and joy.

“I’m so proud to have these guys! They have adapted wonderfully to the farm—horses, riding in my van and work truck, the carriage (with a trainee). You can take them anywhere… I’m so blessed to have the smartest ride-or-die dogs in Memphis in just a few months,” Shannon expressed in a Facebook post.

What began as a temporary foster arrangement evolved into a loving forever home. For Moose, Greta, and Shannon, this truly is the pawfect combination!
