Having rescued numerous dogs, each with their specific needs, the neighbors felt well-equipped for any new arrivals.
However, upon spotting a puppy wearing a fuzzy purple sweater curled up in a nearby park, struggling with a persistent cough, they began to worry that this situation might be dire.
While they typically only neuter the dogs they find and return them to the streets, this remarkable team recognized that this time, they needed to take additional action.
The Rescue Effort
One of the neighbors involved in the rescue, Beatriz Ordaz, chose to bring the puppy into her home to provide necessary medical care.
As soon as she was welcomed with affection, the puppy, now affectionately named Catalina the Great, began to show positive changes.
Nonetheless, Beatriz established a thorough treatment plan for her.
“My son and I administer nebulization treatments. She’s improving, but she still awaits a family,” Beatriz shared with The Dodo.
Even though she knows little about Catalina’s previous life, Beatriz suspects that the dog likely had a home at one point.
“She definitely lived indoors before, as she enjoys jumping up on the couch. She’s very social and loves interacting with people,” she remarked.
Catalina the Great is an incredibly kind pup, a trait shared by many strays, as they all have been unfairly abandoned without valid reasons.
With this understanding, Beatriz and her fellow neighbors are committed to showing every stray the love they rightly deserve – and right now, it’s Catalina’s time for that care.
“I truly hope someone gives this sweet girl an opportunity. Currently, I’m focused on her full recovery from her respiratory issues,” she expressed.
Path to Healing
Given Catalina’s fondness for her sweater, Beatriz chose to keep it on her. This helped keep her warm and added to her comfort during recovery.
Since no one has yet chosen to adopt this lovely pup, her rescuer will continue caring for her until a loving family comes forward.
The most crucial aspect is that this pup has found a safe space, surrounded by humans who remind her every day of her importance.
“Dogs offer us countless chances. They trust us even after we’ve let them down. We have so much to learn from them,” Beatriz concluded.
