Every dog deserves an owner who loves them and ensures their safety and well-being. Unfortunately, some heartless dog owners abandon these loyal and beautiful animals without a second thought for their future.
In the tale we share today, we focus on Gibbs, an adorable 6-week-old puppy who experienced the true meaning of abandonment. This little furball was left inside a dark cardboard box outside a shelter during the night.
Filled with fear, he cried out for assistance, hoping someone would hear his pleas and come to his rescue.
Discovering A Tiny Surprise
In the dead of night, a staff member at a shelter in Orangeburg, South Carolina, remembered there was something they had forgotten. They returned to the shelter.
As they neared the entrance, they were astonished to spot a cardboard box on a bench nearby. It was marked ‘small’.
Just as they prepared to open it and discover its contents, they heard faint cries for help. Rushing to open the box, they were met with a pair of the most innocent puppy eyes staring back at them.
The puppy wore a sad yet hopeful expression. The staff member swiftly took him inside. Relieved to be rescued by a caring human, Gibbs was fed and looked after.
The staff were heartbroken that such a lovable little puppy had been abandoned after hours. They were thankful for their return to the shelter that night.
Transitioning to a Foster Home
The day after, the shelter shared the story of the tiny abandoned puppy on Facebook. Once staff at Eunoia Rescue in Charleston, South Carolina, spotted the post, they made arrangements to take the sweet puppy into their care.
Upon seeing him for the first time, their hearts melted. It was unimaginable that someone could abandon such a precious little creature.
They provided him with a warm bath to clean him up and rid him of the fleas and worms that plagued him. Fortunately, other than that, he was in good condition. His new shelter friends smothered him in cuddles and affection.
Gibbs transitioned to a loving foster home, where he is thriving, receiving the love and care he deserves.
“He LOVES other dogs and believes he weighs 50 pounds instead of just a tiny 4 pounds, chasing his foster siblings around. He’s joyful, healthy, and just waiting until he’s big enough to be neutered before being adopted,” shared Eunoia Rescue.
I am overjoyed that compassionate individuals saved Gibbs’ life and provided him with the necessary care and affection. There’s no doubt that this beautiful pup will soon find an amazing family and a loving forever home where he truly belongs.
