When you see a dog in a shelter, the stories behind those sad puppy eyes often remain hidden. However, the tale of Rhoudy, a surrendered three-year-old Terrier mix, left everyone utterly shocked!
Initially, the compassionate staff at Greenville Humane Society in South Carolina thought Rhoudy was just another shelter dog. That was until they discovered a small note penned by his previous owners. This tiny piece of paper, featuring a heartfelt message and a drawing, brought tears to many.
“We Know How Hard It Was To Say Goodbye”

Rhoudy’s note, although brief, was one of the hardest letters for his caregivers to read. It was clear that he was surrendered by his family, and some of his siblings expressed their grief in the note: “We love you Rhoudy. I will miss you, Rhoudy. But you’re going home! And I hope your people love you as much as I do,”.

After Rhoudy arrived at GHS, volunteers endeavored to uncover his story but found it impossible to track down his family. The best they could do was to respond to the note via social media, hoping Rhoudy’s human siblings would see their message!
“We know how hard it was to say goodbye. But you were so brave and so strong. Sometimes hard decisions have to be made, but he knows how much you love him,” GHS shared in a Facebook post.
This heartfelt reply quickly went viral, touching the hearts of countless individuals nationwide. GHS wanted to assure everyone that Rhoudy was now in a loving environment.
“He’s doing so good. He’s gone for lots of walks and has all of the toys you brought him in his bed. He’s being given so much love. Yes, he misses you. But he will always love you. Don’t you ever forget that, OK,” the South Carolina rescue added.
Rhoudy In Search Of A New Home

Despite a challenging beginning, Rhoudy is now in a safe and loving environment thanks to his new family. He’s no longer confined to a kennel; instead, he gets to showcase his vibrant personality with his caregivers. This energetic pup loves to play and is eager for attention from everyone.

“I’m a bit of a rough and tumble kind of guy and I love to play and roughhouse with other dogs… I’m looking for a family who will give me lots of love and attention, and who will keep me active and engaged,” expressed Rhoudy through the rescue’s website.
When the moment is right, Rhoudy aspires to find a family that will cherish him for who he is. One thing is clear — he’s a wonderful, adventurous companion and deserves a forever home!
