South Carolina Rescuers Discover Heartbreaking Note Next to Dog They Saved

Date:

When you see a dog in a shelter, the stories behind their sad puppy eyes are often unknown. This was certainly the case for Rhoudy, a three-year-old Terrier mix, whose story left everyone stunned!

The wonderful folks at Greenville Humane Society in South Carolina initially thought Rhoudy was just another shelter dog, until they discovered a heartwarming note left by his previous owners. This small piece of paper, inscribed with a child’s innocent message and a drawing of Rhoudy, brought tears to many.

“We Know How Hard It Was To Say Goodbye”

Though Rhoudy’s previous story was somewhat unclear, the note he left behind was one of the most heart-wrenching things his caretakers had ever read. Rhoudy had been surrendered, and his family couldn’t hide their sadness. The note read: “We love you Rhoudy. I will miss you, Rhoudy. But you’re going home! And I hope your people love you as much as I do,”.

After arriving at GHS, the volunteers worked tirelessly to uncover Rhoudy’s backstory, but tracing his family proved to be a challenge. Their only option was to respond to the heartfelt note via social media, hoping it would reach his siblings.

“We know how hard it was to say goodbye. But you were so brave and so strong. Sometimes hard decisions have to be made, but he knows how much you love him,” GHS expressed in a Facebook post.

This response quickly gained traction, captivating the hearts of hundreds across the nation. GHS aimed to reassure everyone that Rhoudy was now in a loving environment.

“He’s doing so good. He’s gone for lots of walks and has all of the toys you brought him in his bed. He’s being given so much love. Yes, he misses you. But he will always love you. Don’t you ever forget that, OK,” the South Carolina rescue reiterated.

Despite his rough start, Rhoudy is now in a safe place, far removed from the life of a shelter dog. Surrounded by care, he’s showcasing his vibrant personality, although he still longs for a loving family.

This energetic pup thrives on interaction, reveling in playtime with other dogs, and adores being the center of attention. His playful nature is infectious, making him a delightful companion.

“I’m a bit of a rough and tumble kind of guy and I love to play and rough house with other dogs… I’m looking for a family who will give me lots of love and attention, and who will keep me active and engaged,” his rescue shared on their website. Rhoudy is hopeful to find a loving family that will cherish him just as he is, proving to be a pawesome and adventurous companion destined to be treasured!
