Have you ever spent years with your dog, only to discover a peculiar talent or behavior? Apparently, many share this experience, and it’s often quite amusing to witness dogs displaying unexpected antics. For me, it was my dog running laps around the house each time he stepped outside, a curious ritual of sorts.
But a family in South Carolina observed something entirely different. They found their pup exhibiting some hilarious behavior whenever he encountered another animal.
How Does He Do That?

When Clyde’s family first brought him home, they had no clue how intriguing life with him would be. As a Vizsla, a breed often used for hunting, Clyde displayed certain instinctual behaviors that left his family in awe. Every time he spotted another animal in the yard, he would freeze, staring intently without making any move.

Clyde’s mom, Caitlin, shared with The Dodo: “It started with butterflies in the yard and random things around the house, like toilet paper rolls. The instincts are so ingrained in him that he does it without any training!” Moreover, this behavior has been observed since he was a puppy, making it a long-standing quirk. Clyde has mastered this stillness, and given his hunting background, it’s not too surprising.
At times, the family struggles to identify what he’s fixed on since it can be something really small.
Clyde’s Adventures

Clyde’s family enjoys documenting his adventures, sharing most of these on their pup’s Instagram profile. Caitlin mentioned, “My husband was laughing at how this reel went viral, as for us, Clyde standing still in the backyard for minutes feels so normal we barely notice it!” Their surprise at the online fascination highlights how extraordinary Clyde’s behavior is to others.

Clyde’s behavior often resembles ‘falling into a trance’ as he intensely focuses on the creature before him, which his family finds delightful as it’s a workout for his mind. Beyond this mental engagement, he also relishes running on the beach and playing with his loved ones.
It’s truly heartwarming to see how dogs’ quirky behaviors can bring inexhaustible joy to those around them. Indeed, dogs are our best companions.
