A bit of love can make a significant impact on someone’s life, and Kacey would wholeheartedly affirm that!
This petite, weary Chi pup was struggling to survive in a parking lot in Los Angeles, California. She had been living a precarious existence ever since her former owners abandoned her, compounded by the trauma of being hit by a car.
For more than a month, Kacey evaded capture due to her intense fear of people. Despite her desperate situation, she consistently turned down assistance from locals until her life took a surprising shift one day.
Terrified And Defeated
Lisa Chiarelli from Frankie Lola and Friends, a dog rescue in Los Angeles, received a call about Kacey and acted promptly. However, providing refuge for this sweet girl was not simple, as she continuously resisted help.
Kacey took refuge in the parking lot of a nearby mechanic shop. She was severely underweight, suffering from a dislocated hip, covered in fleas, and utterly exhausted.
For nearly a month, Lisa and her team visited Kacey consistently until, one fateful day, she ventured into a humane trap.
As soon as she entered the trap, her anxiety peaked, causing her to tremble. Kacey had been deeply traumatized and was scared of every interaction, but she seemed too exhausted and defeated to put up a struggle.
“She was profoundly defeated—too tired to react, to bite, or to run. Just scared,” Lisa explained to The Dodo.
Upon arriving at her new temporary home, Kacey began to unwind. Lisa provided her a cozy dog bed, but instead, Kacey gravitated towards a pink blanket on the floor and promptly fell asleep.
“She’s completely worn out from months spent on the streets. Stray dogs are frequently on high alert and in self-preservation mode, seldom achieving a deep slumber. She had the best night’s sleep of her life and is currently snoozing the day away,” Lisa posted on Instagram.
During her veterinary examination, she was discovered to have a dislocated hip that necessitated FHO surgery. However, Kacey remained too frail and emaciated to undergo any procedures. She was sent to a foster home for additional recuperation.
A Foster Fail
Lianne and her large family warmly embraced Kacey into their home! With several other dogs already present, Kacey quickly started to feel at ease surrounded by new friends.
Despite her movement challenges, Kacey transformed into just another dog within a few days. Her new siblings showed her how to embrace her doggy instincts, helping her emerge from her shell.
Kacey, being the affectionate pup that she is, constantly seeks love. She has a unique way of requesting attention by gently tapping the person she desires affection from, soon followed by a heartwarming smile.
Eventually, Kacey completed her surgery and received the necessary treatment she had long needed. With her hips healed, she could finally keep pace with her canine companions and play carefree.
It’s safe to say that Kacey seamlessly integrated into her new family, prompting Lianne to decide to keep her for good!
“Yet another memorable foster fail. This one didn’t surprise me at all,” Lisa shared on Instagram.
After all the effort and cherished moments during Kacey’s recovery, the family couldn’t bear to part with her.
“What a tiny little strong, powerful soul she is. I’m so grateful we rescued Kacey from the parking lot that day. Life can change in an instant,” Lisa reflected in another Instagram update.
Once a scared, abandoned little girl with no hope, Kacey is now the beloved princess of her new home, and her family wholeheartedly supports her royal status!
