It’s often said that challenging paths lead to the most amazing destinations, and that’s exactly how Bubby would reflect on his journey if he had the words!
Discovered as a stray and covered in bite marks, this pup from California had no idea how to be a dog. He endured a life of abuse, having been exploited as a bait dog until compassionate rescuers decided to change his fate.
However, Bubby’s recovery was a tall order; he required someone with enough time and patience to guide him on a remarkable transformation. Thankfully, that special person was just around the corner!
Bubby’s Backstory

After being rescued, Bubby had a body full of wounds. He was brought to the Stanislaus Shelter Friends, where he received care for a full two months. Unfortunately, he was placed on the euthanasia list, but the compassionate folks at South County Tail Waggers saved him just in time.
When Katharine adopted him, Bubby was still a completely shut-down dog, unaware of how to interact with humans.

The first time Bubby entered his new momma’s home, he curled up in his cozy bed and slept there for a whole day.
He required time to come to terms with the idea that he finally had someone who would bestow upon him endless love and care. Fortunately, Katharine had all the time and space to offer!
Katharine works as a park ranger in the stunning Pinnacles National Park in California, making Bubby’s new opportunity to roam freely and explore absolutely invaluable.
