It’s quite common to hear rustling in the trees, as birds, squirrels, and various animals often reside there.
However, spotting a creature occupying a third of a tree’s branches is certainly not an everyday sight.
This is precisely what the residents of Salt Lake City, Utah, experienced one day when they spotted a large animal hiding in a tree above.
Initially taken aback, they quickly recognized that this creature required assistance and promptly contacted the rescuers.
Rescuing The Big Guy
Upon receiving the alert regarding a two-year-old bear trapped in a tree, rescuers from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, the Salt Lake City Fire Department, the Salt Lake City Parks Department, and the Salt Lake City Police Department hurried to the scene.
Upon their arrival, both the rescuers and those who discovered the bear were surprised to see how the animal ended up in such a predicament. However, there was a plausible explanation.
“Our biologists believe the bear may have migrated to the lower elevation area in search of food and water,” mentioned the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in a Facebook post, adding: “It’s not uncommon for bears to wander after hibernation, and sometimes they end up in urban areas.”
Despite these circumstances, this rescue mission was quite extraordinary for the teams, as they had never encountered a bear rescue within Salt Lake City, usually dealing with such incidents in the nearby canyons.
Nevertheless, they were fully prepared for this challenge and sprang into action to assist the big guy.
The skilled rescuers from the various agencies collaborated seamlessly and tranquilized the bear to ensure his safety, as well as that of others. Once he was safely down from the tree, they transported him to a nearby truck.
Finally, the bear was safe and secure, marking the successful conclusion of their rescue operation.
Back Where He Belongs
Upon safely relocating the bear, the team conducted a health assessment on scene. Once they confirmed his wellbeing, he was ready to return to his natural habitat.
The bear was finally heading home, an immensely joyful moment for everyone involved.
The rescuers felt immense pride in what they accomplished for the bear, and watching him eagerly dash back to his home reminded them once again of their passion for their work.
There is truly no greater gift than saving a life.
