A mother dog felt betrayed and worried after her owner abandoned her and her puppies in a park in San Antonio, Texas. The little puppies were shivering in the cold, lying on a rain-soaked blanket left by their owner, huddled next to their mom seeking her love and protection. Her heart filled with sadness as she tried to comfort her babies and keep them warm.
A Ray Of Hope
Someone spotted this abandoned canine family and shared a plea for help on social media. When Jennifer McKee saw the post, she immediately went to the San Antonio park to assist them. Her heart sank upon seeing two puppies sleeping in their mother’s arms, who appeared extremely malnourished and neglected. “The mama was skin and bones, [her] skin and fur a mess. The puppies looked good considering how they were found,” McKee later shared with The Dodo.
To avoid scaring them away, McKee quietly offered the mother dog, named Nova, some turkey. Since she was starving, Nova quickly devoured her meal. When the puppies woke up, McKee picked them up; they were cold and trembling, and she reassured them that everything would be alright.
Feeling Loved And Cherished
After feeding the pups, McKee loaded them in her car and offered them water. Nova let her puppies drink first and looked at McKee with gratitude. She then took the family home to foster them. Determined to provide the love and care they needed, McKee took them to the vet, where they were given a clean bill of health. Initially, the puppies, named Peaches and Tank, spent much of their time sleeping and decompressing.
As time passed, Nova began eating nutritious food and continued caring for her babies. Gradually, she regained her strength and felt safe, allowing Peaches and Tank to enjoy life. They relished playing with their mom.
McKee and her family showered Nova and her puppies with love. The pups soaked up this affection and began demonstrating their playful and loving nature. The canine family thrived in their foster home, enjoying outings for pup cups and shopping trips.
