Rescuers at The Animal Pad in San Diego were taken aback when they received a text along with a photo of a stray dog who had a swollen face.
They quickly made their way to the scene and found the forlorn pup, who they later named Marvel.
Seeing his sorrowful green eyes, filled with sadness, made the rescuers’ hearts ache.
The rescuers vowed to do everything possible to assist him.
Rescuing Two Inseparable Friends
The compassionate rescuers aspired to wipe away the despair from Marvel’s eyes and offer him a renewed chance at joy.
Around him was another dog named Captain, who remained close to Marvel, attempting to lift his spirits.
Captain had a Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) and required assistance as well.
The caring family who fed these dogs informed the rescuers that Marvel and Captain were inseparable companions, always by each other’s side.
The rescuers comforted the two dogs, assuring them that their lives were about to change for the better.
They carefully placed the dogs in the vehicle.
Marvel and Captain were bewildered, unsure of what was happening.
As the rescuer team hurried the dogs to a veterinary clinic in San Diego, they wondered about the source of Marvel’s facial swelling.
There was uncertainty regarding the cause of the dog’s swollen face.
“It’s unclear whether this is due to a bite, an infected wound, or something more serious, like the TVT he might have contracted from Captain…” The Animal Pad stated in an Instagram post.
The Dogs Receive Essential Care
Upon their arrival, Marvel was immediately taken to the emergency room while Captain remained with the caring hospital staff, charmed them with his sweet demeanor.
The veterinarian assessed Marvel and conducted an X-ray on his swollen face.
It became apparent that surgery was necessary for the pup.
On April 18th, 2024, The Animal Pad provided an update regarding Marvel’s health on Instagram.
“The cause of this condition remains uncertain; however, it appears to be fully resolved! Marvel underwent surgery to eliminate tissue, which rapidly alleviated the inflammation in his face and neck,” the rescue organization shared.
Just a week after his rescue, Marvel had transformed completely. The swelling had disappeared, and he looked healthy. His eyes shone with a newfound hope.
Captain began his treatment for TVT and was responding positively.
The pup was in high spirits, feeling safe and happy as he received the love and care he had always longed for.
Seeking a Forever Home
For a while, Marvel and Captain were unable to see one another after the surgery.
When the long-awaited day for their reunion arrived, both dogs were overjoyed. They dashed into each other’s embrace, bubbling with excitement for their re-connection.
Their affection was marked by hugs and kisses exchanged between the two.
Marvel and Captain aim to put their heartbreaking past with homelessness behind them and look toward a brighter future.
The loyal pups earnestly hope to find a loving family who will cherish them wholeheartedly and show them the true beauty of life.
