The role of a rescuer, while fulfilling, is often heart-wrenching. You can’t predict when you’ll encounter a dog that’s been abandoned or neglected, and when you do, you must find the strength to take action.
Roxie, a lovely black Lab mix, represents one such story. After getting lost in the devastating fires in LA, California, compassionate rescuers reached out to her family, but their response shocked everyone.
She Had A Home, But…
The Hope For Paws team in California received a touching message from Marisol, who found Roxie near the fire-affected area and informed them that she was homeless. They quickly responded and upon retrieving Roxie, they discovered she was microchipped. Although she had no injuries, her coat was quite dirty, prompting them to give her a warm bath.
“She was so dirty, and I suspected she may have escaped the fire area. Before leaving the location, I scanned her for a microchip right away, and sure enough, she had one,” HFP noted in a post.
