Rescuers Discover Two Abandoned Dogs in a Kennel Alongside a Startling Note from Their Owner

Date:

Imagine arriving at work early in the morning and unexpectedly discovering two adorable puppies waiting for you at the entrance! This delightful scenario unfolded for the staff at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Two unidentified puppies were left in separate kennels outside the facility, devoid of any identification or documentation—just a brief, handwritten note.

Unknown Circumstances

The two puppies, visibly confused, were patiently waiting for someone to offer them a friendly hand. Although initially in shock, the compassionate staff at FCAS quickly took action, welcoming the pups into their care and treating them like family immediately.

“Thank you for leaving them in a spot where we could see them right away,” the FCAS team expressed in their post that day.

The Note That Doesn’t Explain Much

The brief note attached to one of the kennels offered minimal insight. It included the puppies’ names, their approximate ages, breeds, and a few words about their personalities: “Simba – very friendly, Australian Shepherd mix.” “Nala – German Shepherd mix, has worms, unknown birthday, approx. 12 weeks.” Although the note lacked details regarding their history, the FCAS team approached the situation without judgment.

“We do not know this person’s story or what is going on in their life, and we are not here to pass judgment on their difficult decision,” they stated. Instead, the team expressed empathy towards the owner, believing that they had left the puppies there out of necessity. The silver lining was that the puppies were strategically placed where they could be easily noticed and rescued. The FCAS team reached out to the previous owner for more information but, to date, no one has come forward.

Still Waiting For The Pawfect Home

Over three months have passed since Simba and Nala were abandoned in Winston-Salem, and sadly, neither puppy has yet found a permanent home.

Despite the lack of inquiries regarding their adoption, Nala and Simba are doing well in their temporary shelter and remain under stray hold. The FCAS team has chosen to keep them available for their previous owners to come forward, but they remain optimistic that these sweet pups will soon find loving forever homes.

Until then, we wish them the best of luck!
