It’s truly disheartening to see how some dog owners can mistreat innocent pups who simply deserve unconditional love.
Rather than nurturing their dogs and providing a sense of security and joy, some individuals choose to inflict pain and despair upon them. They abandon these loyal companions who once placed their complete trust in their owners.
Snapple is a lovely dog who has experienced the deep hurt of betrayal from those she believed in the most. Her cruel owners discarded her, tying her to a dumpster, revealing a complete lack of empathy or care for her well-being.
A Frightened Pup In Need Of Help
Fortunately, Donna Lochmann and her compassionate rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis were passing through Missouri’s capital. They spotted a pitiful pup lying among the refuse and immediately jumped out to assist her.
Upon approaching the dog, their hearts sank as they realized she was tethered to the dumpster.
“We pulled up to find a dog [lying] in a pile of trash, looking up at us. [She was] tied to a dumpster with a cable, and the cable was all twisted around a fence,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared on Facebook.
Trapped and curled among the garbage, she could only hang onto the hope that someone would rescue her and offer her a safe place.
When the pup spotted her rescuers, she lifted her head and gazed at them with sorrowful eyes.
However, as the rescue team attempted to untie her, the frightened canine became unsettled, barking at them in fear.
Winning Her Trust
The rescuers were undeterred. They understood that the dog was wary due to the past traumas inflicted by unkind owners.
Lochmann was resolved to earn her trust. She offered her Vienna sausages, and the famished pup devoured them eagerly.
Gradually, the dog, later named Snapple, began to trust her rescuers, allowing them to place a leash around her neck.
The rescue team freed her and gently carried her to the vehicle. Initially on guard, Snapple soon recognized that she was in safe hands.
Her rescuers took her to the shelter, where she received a gentle bath.
After undergoing a medical examination, the team was relieved to discover that Snapple was in great health.
Showering Snapple With A Lot Of Love
The gentle dog felt anxious and still bore the weight of her traumatic experiences. The caring shelter staff in St. Louis aimed to gain her confidence.
They wanted to ensure her that she would never face harm or abandonment again.
With kindness and affection, the shelter team showered her with love.
Slowly but surely, Snapple started to relax, beginning to emerge from her shell. She began showering her caregivers with affection and displayed her gratitude for their encouragement and tenderness.
While she still needs time to heal emotionally and come to terms with her traumatic past, Snapple is currently available for adoption. Yet, her shelter family intends to provide her with whatever time she requires to fully recuperate.
“She can let those walls down when she’s ready. [Stray Rescue of St. Louis] gives dogs the time they need, each on their own unique timeline,” the shelter expressed.
The team will support her every step of the way, providing abundant love and nurturing to help her flourish.
We believe Snapple will soon discover a loving forever family that will show her the beauty and joy of life. We eagerly anticipate witnessing her transformation into one of the happiest pups in town.
