Rescuers Devastated by the Heartbreaking Backstory of Dog They Just Saved from the Road

Date:

The tale of Bruno is undeniably tragic.

Throughout his existence, he only experienced anguish and distress. He never got the opportunity to understand what a nurturing family feels like or to feel the warm touch of a loving human.

Instead, he wandered a busy mountain road in Georgia for days, perilously close to being struck by speeding cars. Deep within, Bruno longed for hope, yet it eluded him.

Until…

He Had Completely Lost Hope

Audray Luck, founder of Luck’s Rescue, spotted this large dog in the middle of the road. Startled by what she witnessed, she quickly pulled over to aid the distressed animal.

However, the rescue was not straightforward. Initially, Bruno was too frightened to approach Audray and bolted into a nearby field, unwilling to come closer.

That’s when Stephanie, her friend and fellow rescuer, intervened. Using her renowned “dog whispering” techniques, Stephanie was able to help Bruno feel a bit at ease, and soon they formed a bond.

Just when they hoped for a smooth rescue, tragedy struck!

As they assessed him by the roadside, Audray and Stephanie discovered that Bruno was not in good shape at all. Rather than displaying joy and enthusiasm for new friendships, he simply lay down, barely able to lift his head.

He lacked the energy to move and remained completely still in the grass.

“Bruno had entirely given up, and when I began to check him on the side of the road, I realized he had endured a very harsh life,” Audray shared in an Instagram post.

Significant Health Problems

Once they took Bruno away from the busy road, Audray and Stephanie brought him to the vet.

The revelations from his first checkup were absolutely devastating.

This gentle giant wasn’t just facing one health issue, but several, including heartworms, ticks, and ehrlichiosis. To make matters worse, he had two holes in his gums from a stick lodged in his mouth for months.

But the most shocking news was when the vet informed them that Bruno had been shot. He was carrying over a hundred pellets inside him from the gunshot wound, and still managed to survive.

It’s no surprise that he appeared to have lost all hope. Faced with such numerous issues, it was a genuine miracle that he was alive.

During his time in Audray’s care, he mainly spent his days sleeping. For the first time in a long while, he had the opportunity to rest and feel secure, despite his dire situation.

Bruno Knows Pain, Yet He Embraces Love

If I were to sum up Bruno in a single word, it would be – resilience! Despite all the hurdles he faced, he never lost that glimmer in his eyes. Bruno is a gentle soul – a dog who yearned to give and receive love.

“He knows hardship too well, yet he chooses love each day,” Audray mentioned in another post.

His gentle nature did not go unnoticed.

After a while, a woman reached out to Audray about adopting Bruno. However, she was uncertain how he would get along with her son, so she opted for a trial foster arrangement. Within just three days, she was astonished!

“They realized within three days that they wanted to adopt him. We are thrilled that he will never have to experience suffering again,” Audray shared with Cuddle Buddies.

After weathering countless storms, Bruno finally discovered a forever home. He will continue his treatment until he’s fully healed, but the vital part is that, moving forward, he will never be alone again!

Best of luck, Bruno. We wish you a swift recovery!
