Rescuer Comes to Aid Dogs Abandoned on Railroad Tracks for Days, Discovering the Unexpected

Date:

It’s undeniable: witnessing a dog in dire circumstances pulls at the heartstrings. This is the daily reality for animal rescuers who encounter unthinkable situations.

Suzette Hall, a dedicated rescuer from California, exemplifies this heroism. Recently, she embarked on a mission to save two stray dogs living perilously close to railroad tracks when something startling drew her attention.

As the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California, Hall received an urgent message about a bonded pair of pups living dangerously close to railroad tracks. Without hesitation, she jumped in her car to help. Locals reported that the dogs had been there for five days, always together, but upon her arrival, she could only see one.

“When I received a message about two dogs living on the railroad tracks for five days, always by each other’s side, I heard a little girl crying alone by the train when I arrived,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.

The small female pup was sitting near a train, seemingly trying to signal for help. Despite her distress, she remained stationary, crying out loudly. When Hall approached, she discovered the heartbreaking reason for her immobility: her companion was lying nearby, unable to move.

Heartbroken, Hall realized that the other pup had sustained a serious injury—a broken leg caused by being hit by a car. “I can’t imagine the pain she was in or how long she lay there shocked and in pain. Look at the break in her leg,” Hall expressed in a follow-up post.

Finally Safe

After safely trapping both dogs, Hall rushed them to a veterinary hospital for examination. The injured pup, now named Gumball, received immediate medical attention. “I initially thought she was a boy, but to my surprise, she is a girl. If her little friend hadn’t cried for her, I might not have noticed her. We have named her Gumball,” Hall explained.

Under Hall’s vigilant care and the compassionate support of the veterinary team, Gumball and her companion’s progress will be monitored daily. Once they are healthy, both pups will be available for foster care, where they can finally experience the love they deserve.

I sincerely hope they are never separated again. And if they must be, I truly wish it’s because they’ve found loving families who will cherish and care for them forever!
