While dogs are often known for their happiness and energy, some can also be quite shy and reserved due to various reasons. This shyness may stem from their personality traits or past trauma, making them wary of new encounters.
Espy is a perfect example of this. After experiencing the challenges of a hoarding situation, she had a chance encounter with a loving family that allowed her to blossom and reveal her true nature.
You Are Going Home
Before arriving at the Austin Animal Center, Espy endured the trauma of a hoarding situation. She desperately needed a space where she could feel safe and loved. Fortunately, when she was adopted by Morgen and Allan, she received just that. Although they already had four dogs and weren’t planning on adopting another, they couldn’t bear to leave her behind.
Allan initially tried to keep his distance but quickly fell for Espy’s sweetness. “I knew she needed to be mine. Our bond formed very quickly. We took her hiking and played frisbee in the backyard,” Morgen shared with Cuddle Buddies.
It took Espy three years to fully come out of her shell, but once she did, she became a spirited and loving companion!
The Best Girl Around
Since leaving the Austin shelter, Espy has become the ultimate cuddle buddy. Every time her mom returns from work, she welcomes her with enthusiastic greetings, bounding toward her and leaping at her feet to express just how much she missed her. As soon as Morgen plops down on the couch, Espy rolls over for belly rubs.
Espy adores her furry siblings and thrives during even the briefest playdates with them. Who can blame her for being in high spirits? “You could tell she actually taught some of them how to play. For the foster dogs my mom brought into the house, she was like a sister who could be annoying at times but also a great teacher,” Morgen noted.
This incredible transformation is truly heartwarming. Espy has evolved from a timid pup to a joyful dog that brightens everyone’s day.
