One of the most distressing aspects of abandoned animals is that many are left in places where survival is nearly impossible.
This sweet dog was no exception. Her origins, ending up in a vast, isolated field, remain a mystery, but she was in dire need of assistance.
Fortunately, a compassionate rescuer named Kelly spotted her and was determined to give her a new lease on life.
She Was Terrified
When Kelly discovered the dog in a field in Texas, she immediately halted her car and attempted to approach her. In an instant, it became evident just how frightened the pup was.
To avoid overwhelming her, Kelly kept her distance. She attempted to offer the dog some food, but her efforts were in vain.
The dog refused to take the food. She appeared so dejected and terrified that Kelly couldn’t remain passive.
At that moment, Kelly understood they needed to find a way to trap the dog, given she would never accept help voluntarily. Kelly shared with The Dodo: “I think we’re gonna have to trap her. We left and came back later.”
They left and returned later. In the field, they set up a humane trap and simply waited. The hungry dog entered the trap, and the plan was successful.
Kelly was thrilled. She hurried to the trap to soothe the terrified pup.
However, she quickly realized the extent of the dog’s fear. When Kelly tried to put a leash on her, the dog froze.
This left her rescuer astonished. The poor pup was paralyzed by fear. Kelly gathered her in her arms and placed her gently in the car.
Sissy Aided Her New Companion
Afterward, they returned to their home in Texas. As Kelly and her partner operated an animal sanctuary, they believed that being around other dogs would help her overcome her fear.
However, there was just one issue. They needed to find a home for her since they didn’t have enough space for another dog.
Yet, when she felt the warm embrace from the pup, it seemed as though Sissy was silently pleading with Kelly to keep her in the family.
As a result, the compassionate rescuers chose to adopt her. Under their care, she underwent a remarkable transformation. Now named Sissy, she is thriving with her new family.
Thanks to their support, she conquered her fears and even formed a new friendship. Doug, the other dog, was a completely different creature.
Doug was suffering from severe PTSD. He wouldn’t leave his room, which severely affected his life until Sissy entered the picture.
Her sweet nature helped him navigate his issues, allowing him to venture outside for the first time in ages.
Kelly beams with pride for both of their improvements and their support for one another through difficult times. She cherishes their friendship.
Ultimately, she remarked: “I 100% believe that there’s no coincidence here. She’s given us so much more than we can give her.”
