Murph’s Trauma
When Murph was rescued from a Puppy Mill in Iowa, she was deeply traumatized and was unsure how to interact with humans.
Her owner, Katera, approached the situation gently, taking care to ensure Murph felt safe and not rushing her. This approach, however, resulted in slow progress due to Murph’s fear.
Katera shared with The Dodo: “To her, she was just a number. She didn’t come out of her crate for weeks.”
It’s heartbreaking to consider the extent of her fear. I can hardly fathom how traumatic her experiences must have been.
Nonetheless, hope remained as Murph gradually began to show signs of progress when she bravely peeked out of her crate one day.

A Great New Chapter For Murph
As Murph began to feel more at ease, Katera noticed she was quite matted and it was time for a bath and grooming appointment.
Her loving owner gave her a bath, which helped her feel more relaxed. After some grooming, she looked like a brand new dog.
This was a remarkable milestone for Murph. Katera thought it would be beneficial to take her for walks, so she introduced it in stages.
However, Katera remarked: “Walks were quite limited at first. My boyfriend would carry her so she could safely observe the world around her.”
This didn’t signify giving up. Murph developed a special bond with her boyfriend, and before long, she was relaxed enough to walk alongside him.
Thus, a significant chapter in her life began. She underwent a remarkable transformation, even seeking more affection from her family.
They took her to a serene park in Iowa where she could frolic freely and explore her surroundings. It was simply heartwarming.
This wonderful couple made a significant impact when they adopted Murph, giving her a second chance at life.
Moreover, her resilience and ability to overcome trauma allowed her to rediscover happiness with those who mean everything to her.
