As much as our adorable doggos love spending time with their furry friends, sometimes it can be overwhelming. While a playdate with a large group of dogs is enjoyable, for a dog that lives in a cramped space with too many animals, stress and behavioral issues can arise.
Unfortunately, this is the experience of a pup named Radon.
A Bit Too Stressed

Woods Humane Society in California rescued several pups from a severe hoarding case, hoping every one of them would find a forever home soon. Most puppies were adopted, but Radon struggled to trust humans. Recognizing his needs, the shelter sought a nurturing foster home. They contacted Arianne, a compassionate woman who gladly welcomed Radon into her home.

Arianne quickly realized that helping Radon would be a challenge, as he was extremely fearful of humans, shying away from eye contact. “He was struggling. You couldn’t touch him; he was just so stressed out. He would run away at any sudden movement or eye contact,” Arianne recounted to GeoBeats. To avoid overwhelming Radon further, she approached him slowly, maintaining a distance, while noting that he felt more at ease with other dogs. Thankfully, Arianne’s own dog, Gator, proved to be a calming presence for him.

Easy Does It
After a week in his new foster environment, Radon began to open up. “If we were stationary, he would come out to peek. But if we moved, he would run away. I suspected he lacked socialization and felt safest at night when he was most active,” Arianne reflected.
Feeding time proved challenging as Radon refused to eat from Arianne’s hand, requiring her to slide food in a jar towards him. However, once he felt comfortable enough to eat from her hand, it marked the beginning of a beautiful transformation.

“It took more than two months, but yes, it was a long journey to earn his trust. Little by little, Radon has made such incredible progress; I believe he can achieve anything,” Arianne expressed. Radon transitioned from a terrified pup to one who truly enjoyed human company. Whenever friends visited, he would happily accept tasty treats from them, signaling that he was finally ready for a forever family.
Thanks to his charming personality, finding Radon a loving home was effortless. Now, he’s living the best life imaginable with a family that cherishes him!
