All dogs dream of living in a happy home, surrounded by loving parents. While a Red Husky who would later be named Luna was aimlessly wandering the streets of Othello, Washington, she found herself reminiscing about the home she once knew. As she looked around, she hoped to catch a glimpse of familiar faces among the passers-by.
Fortunately, her luck changed when the rescuers at Adams County Pet Rescue found her and brought her into their care. The sweet pooch exhibited such a gentle nature that the staff quickly believed she had once belonged to a family.
Despite their hopes that her owners would come looking for her, that day never came.
The Pooch Tries To Escape The Shelter

Adjusting to kennel life was a significant challenge for Luna; the noisy shelter felt overwhelming. She desperately wanted to reunite with her family. Just ten days after her arrival, she made a daring escape from her crate, managing to climb onto the shelter’s roof. “It’s happened again, except this time it’s a Husky on the roof! Maybe Luna’s climbing skills are the reason her owner decided not to pick her up,” the Adams County Pet Rescue jokingly shared in a Facebook post.
From her perch, Luna scanned the area, longing for a sight of her beloved family. However, her antics caught the attention of the shelter staff, who quickly rushed to rescue her and coaxed her back to safety.
Luna Receives A Lot Of Love

The dedicated staff showered Luna with affection, understanding that she longed for a loving family once again. They committed to helping her find happiness. Luna eagerly sought the attention of potential adopters visiting the shelter. In the following months, she completed training courses and got along splendidly with her fellow shelter residents.
As trust grew among her shelter friends, Luna’s vibrant personality began to shine. Still, despite her charms, she remained overlooked by those seeking a new companion. A year later, Luna became one of the longest residents at the shelter. The staff adored her and never lost hope that she would ultimately find a forever home, believing she would be an amazing addition to any family.
Enjoying A Sweet Foster Life

When the shelter partnered with the Ahtanum View Reentry Center in Yakima to launch a fostering program, sweet Luna was their first chosen dog. Overjoyed, she met the program coordinators and her new foster family and stepped out of the Washington shelter smiling. This moment had been a long time coming for the pup. After settling into her foster home, Luna quickly charmed everyone around her.
“She is seriously the [chillest] Husky I have ever seen, and I don’t know how she had been at the shelter for over a year. She is the biggest sweetheart, and everyone adores her,” Brianna shared with Adams County Pet Rescue and later on Facebook.
Luna is thriving in her temporary home, relishing the opportunity to nap on the floor with her legs up against the wall and to indulge in tasty treats from her fosters. The loving pup has so much affection to give and enjoys snuggling with her foster family. I am thrilled that Luna finally has a chance to enjoy life outside the shelter, and I remain hopeful that she will soon find the perfect forever home filled with the love she deserves.
