When a dog named Santo arrived at the Animal House Shelter, he was overjoyed.
Having recently escaped death row, Santo was eager to embrace his new life filled with loving humans.
Sad to say, reality didn’t quite match his expectations.
A lengthy wait of 355 days ensued, with Santo still in his kennel, continuously overlooked by potential adopters. Despite this adversity, he remained steadfast in his hope!
In a TikTok post from the shelter in Illinois, Santo can be seen on his best behavior, patiently sitting and showcasing what a wonderful dog he is.
The accompanying text for the video highlighted Santo’s plight: “Meet Santo! He has been awaiting his forever family for 355 days. This 3-year-old collie/greyhound mix is wonderful with other dogs and older children! He is very active and would benefit from training. The video rapidly gained traction on social media, capturing the hearts of many and demonstrating Santo’s resilience.
The staff is hopeful they will soon hear from a compassionate person eager to provide this sweet dog with a nurturing home.
“Santo would thrive in an active household. He would do best with adults and older children. He loves to play and is incredibly affectionate! He also gets along well with other dogs, so a furry sibling would be welcomed!” stated a spokesperson for the Animal House Shelter in an interview with Newsweek.
Santo is a dog overflowing with affection. He will continually shower you with love and appreciation, making you feel like the best pet owner in the universe.
