It is truly heartbreaking to see people abandoning their cherished pets on the streets.
Most of these animals are not accustomed to life outdoors and endure unimaginable struggles, often left confused about what they did to deserve such treatment.
Fortunately, there are compassionate individuals in the world who strive to ensure that every one of these furry friends finds the loving home they have always deserved.
Today, you’ll get to know two of these caring people.
You Are Safe Now

Michelle Rocha Frea and her father, David, are devoted animal enthusiasts, always ready to lend a hand to any creature in distress.
A few years ago, they had a wonderful dog named Winn Dixie, who loved them deeply.
“My dad had a dog named Winn Dixie that was his sidekick at work – she would follow him everywhere and ride in the tractor with him,” Michelle shared with Newsweek.
Sadly, Winn Dixie passed away a few years back due to a hit-and-run accident, leaving David devastated.
One day, a friend reached out to David, informing him about some dogs that had been abandoned near an agricultural processing plant, and to his surprise, one of them resembled Winn Dixie.
“He called my dad because one of them looked like Winn Dixie,” Michelle explained.
David saw this as a sign, jumped in his car, and headed over to rescue the puppy.

Unexpected Outcome
Much to their surprise, the puppy, now named Tommy, decided he didn’t want to stick around and ran away the very next morning.
“He had dug a hole under the fence and escaped. My dad searched everywhere, driving through the streets, but he couldn’t find him,” she recounted.
The following day, David got another call – Tommy had returned to the agricultural plant from which he was rescued. Knowing that this was a long drive from their farm, David realized that there had to be a significant reason for Tommy’s return.
When they arrived back at the plant, they discovered the reason behind Tommy’s 10-mile journey to the Bay Area.
He was determined not to leave his friend behind.

“He wouldn’t leave his friend’s side, but that friend was very skittish and terrified of humans. Over the following week, they eventually caught her, and then my dad brought both dogs back home,” Michelle explained.
They named the other pup Sawyer and focused on making them as comfortable as possible. To their surprise, they didn’t just rescue two dogs… they saved nine!
You see, Sawyer was pregnant!

A month later, Sawyer gave birth to seven healthy and playful puppies, making their parents incredibly happy.
Not only were these dogs safe from the streets, but they were also in the care of loving humans who ensured they and their babies had everything needed for happy lives.

For now, the puppies will stay with their mom until they grow big and strong enough to start their own journeys.
“They need owners experienced with dogs since puppies can require a lot of effort! They are small enough to travel by plane, so location is flexible, but they will be available for pickup in the Bay Area,” she concluded.
