Realtor Discovers Astonishing Surprise on the Floor of an Abandoned House

Date:

A real estate agent began her day like any other, expecting a regular workday. However, as she opened the door to the empty house she needed to check, she was utterly taken aback.

Anticipating to discover the house in reasonable condition after the last tenants left nearly a month ago, she instead encountered a scene of complete disarray.

The previous occupants had abandoned the property in a shocking state of chaos. Additionally, she found a playpen containing seven adorable bunnies left behind.

The realtor was left speechless.

An Astonishing Furry Discovery

The seven bunnies were locked in a playpen, surrounded by their own waste for nearly a month.

They desperately needed assistance.

Lyla Frick, the founder and executive director of Pumpkin’s Acres Rabbit Rescue Inc., which took in the seven bunnies, shared with The Dodo that the unfortunate bunnies had been left to fend for themselves for nearly a month.

“The tenant moved out before Christmas, so the rabbits were left alone for almost a month before we were contacted. Although someone visited every few days to provide pellets and water, there were moments when they had none. They were also deprived of hay, an essential part of a rabbit’s diet,” she noted.

The realtor urgently sought a new home for the bunnies but faced constant refusals due to overcrowding in shelters.

Fortunately, Pumpkin’s Acres Rabbit Rescue stepped up to take them in upon learning their distressing situation.

“The hardships they endured and the environment they were in were truly heartbreaking. Thankfully, they appear to be relatively healthy despite their past,” Frick stated.

The group included a mother and her four babies (around five months old) along with two other female bunnies that were unrelated.

Fortunately, they were rescued just in time; otherwise, their survival would have been in jeopardy.

In Search of a Forever Home

All the bunnies have been placed in temporary foster care while the rescue works to find them a loving forever home.

“We currently have a TEMPORARY foster for these bunnies, but no permanent arrangements. The babies are still nursing, so they need to stay with their mother for now. However, by 8 weeks, we will need to separate them. We urgently require more foster homes,” the rescue mentioned in their Facebook post.

After undergoing veterinary examinations and gender assessments, the bunnies were also given names.

“Brandy is the mother to Bourbon (male), Malibu (female), Mojito (male), and Mimosa (female)!💕 They are all incredibly cute and sweet. Kahlua and Amaretto are both females who love to explore and are becoming more comfortable with petting,” the rescue mentioned.

The mother and her babies were placed in one foster home, while the other two females were sent to different foster homes. Initially, they were a bit timid, but are now adapting well to their new surroundings.

Shortly, they should all transition to their forever homes.

“After their traumatic experiences, they are eager for the love and attention of their foster parents, a tidy living space, and all the hay they could wish for. Despite the neglect they faced, their spirits remain high. They are remarkably resilient,” Frick expressed.
