Tyla knew little of freedom, enduring a harsh life confined by her owner, who kept her chained to a crate hidden away in an outdoor tent, away from the world’s compassion. Feeling trapped, she curled up on a baking sheet inside the crate, the only bed she ever knew. Like every other dog, Tyla deserved a loving home where she could relish the beauty of life, but her cruel owner robbed her of that joy. Day by day, she survived on scraps of food tossed into her crate, growing exhausted and hopeless, desperately needing help. Would anyone save her and show her the kindness she craved?
Tyla’s Rescue
Fortunately, the police intervened, discovering Tyla’s plight and removing her from her abusive owner, who faced charges for his actions. Forgotten, Now Family Rescue in Charlotte, North Carolina took her in. She was rushed to the vet for an examination, where it was discovered that Tyla was in poor condition, malnourished, and suffering from both a paw infection and a fungal ear infection. She received antibiotics and started on a special feeding diet, and as she began to regain her strength, Tyla was moved to a foster home.
Initially, her foster mom, Avery Andolina, anticipated that Tyla would be withdrawn due to the abuse she had suffered. However, Tyla astounded her with her resilience. As soon as Tyla met Avery, she embraced the love given to her and seemed eager for affection.
“She saw us and like instantly wanted love. It’s almost like she had missed out on that for so long and she knew what she was missing that she was just like so ready for us to love on her, for her to love on us,” Avery told GeoBeats Animals.
Because Tyla had spent her entire life in a crate, she was unfamiliar with beds and disliked being confined in her foster home. In order to acclimate her to the crate, she underwent training, and now she enjoys sleeping on her bed inside it whenever her foster parents are away.
The Sweet Dog Hopes To Find A Forever Home
Initially, Tyla struggled to walk on concrete due to her paw infection, so Avery helped her by walking on softer surfaces. Over time, Tyla’s paws healed, and she began to love her walks, gaining weight and making a full recovery.
Avery is immensely proud of Tyla’s progress, seeing her as the perfect pup. Despite her traumatic past, Tyla remains incredibly loving and trusting towards humans.
“Even though Tyla was clearly mistreated by humans, has a rough past, she definitely does not let that affect her. She is still so loving towards humans and so trusting of them, which is just amazing that she is able to come this far,” Avery said.
Now residing in her foster home in North Carolina, Tyla is on the lookout for her forever home. Unfortunately, she has not received any applications yet, but she remains hopeful that this will soon change. I eagerly await the day Tyla can fully embrace life with her new family.
