Just when you think you’ve seen everything, a shocking act of cruelty can break your heart all over again.
A group of compassionate rescuers were taken aback when they noticed an open rice bag at a local marketplace. Upon closer inspection, they realized the bag wasn’t empty; it was actually moving.
What they discovered inside next left them utterly heartbroken!
A Heart-Wrenching Rescue
All alone and infested with fleas, there was Pino! This tiny little guy was abandoned by an unknown individual in terrible condition to fend for himself. The unfortunate reality was that Pino was just a four-week-old puppy who still required his mother.
“He was discarded by someone who quickly vanished, not wishing to be seen throwing away a living creature as if he were nothing,” the LSM shared on Instagram.
He was helplessly lying inside a rice bag in a chicken pen, cold and trembling in fear. After an initial examination, the rescuers uncovered the heartbreaking fact – Pino had been left there due to his condition.
“We discovered this tiny dog curled up in a chicken pen. He was cold and quivering in fear as we approached him. This unfortunate little guy was likely abandoned because he had mange,” his rescuers reported to The Dodo.
If left unevaluated, this 1.5-pound puppy could have faced starvation, being only days away from a grim fate.
Fortunately, the compassionate team at Little Steps Matter arrived just in time!
The rescuers sprang into action, scooping the little one off the floor. In no time, Pino found himself on a vet’s examination table for his first proper check-up.
Unfortunately, the diagnosis was alarming!
This heart-wrenching yet resilient puppy suffered a severe case of mange and displayed significant signs of malnutrition. Much of his fur was gone, and he required immediate treatment!
The LSM team, known for their outstanding rescues, took Pino into their care. They embraced him like one of their own, and soon his lively spirit endeared him to everyone at the safe house!
Pino’s Incredible Transformation
The process was long and arduous, filled with daily challenges, but Pino made it through! After the first two weeks, Pino began receiving his medicated baths – and he took them like a champ!
In just a few weeks of treatment, he started showing noticeable improvement.
Pino began eating well and even started to gain some healthy weight. He blossomed, showcasing his remarkable personality wherever he went.
He finally understood that he wasn’t alone anymore, and the love from his caregivers was reciprocated with every passing day!
Then came another joyful moment!
Pino’s coat began to grow back – and he barely resembled his former self!
He was essentially a new dog, boasting a shiny, black coat that charmed everyone he met. Pino transformed into a confident young pup who relished the company of his furry friends, and now – he was ready for a forever home!
After two months in the care of LSM, Pino was adopted by a wonderful family. His new parents, Chelo and Rizky, were instantly smitten and couldn’t be happier!
As for Pino, he is finally discovering the true meaning of a forever home alongside his furry sister, Mellie.
