It’s truly disheartening for any dog searching for a loving home to face rejection from potential adopters.
What adds to this disappointment is that many individuals unfairly judge dogs based on their breed, age, or even disabilities at times.
This is unfortunate, yet it’s a frequent reality in the world, causing numerous dogs to miss out on finding a nurturing family.
For a certain charming dog, he was often unfairly described by others as ‘ugly,’ but one woman recognized his unique beauty, leading to a transformative moment in his life.
Trip’s New Opportunity

Trip first encountered his mom, Heather, while he was in a shelter and she was volunteering by fostering dogs for a rescue organization.
The Norcal Bully Breed Rescue sought out a foster for him, and he was fortunate enough to meet someone as special as her.
It isn’t unusual for rescues to seek foster homes like this. Unfortunately, there are many breeders in California who would inhumanely abandon puppies like Trip, leading to their potential euthanasia.
Luckily for him, that wasn’t his fate. Heather recounted to GeoBeats Animals: “They were in search of someone to take care of this cleft palate pup.”

In a matter of no time, Trip’s life took a remarkable turn. Upon taking him in, Heather swiftly recognized his playful and lively spirit.
She added, “He has a triple cleft, which means he has a bilateral cleft lip along with a cleft palate.”
Regardless of this, her affection for him blossomed, and they developed a profound bond almost immediately. Soon after, she made the heartfelt decision to officially adopt Trip.
He’s a Real Goofball

After spending valuable time together, she became well-acquainted with how to help him maintain a typical lifestyle.
His diet was a crucial aspect. Due to his cleft palate, he needed to eat specific foods that were easy for him to chew and swallow.
Now, despite his penchant for mischief, he always approached interactions with his canine siblings with a distinctive charm and confidence.

Heather reflected: “I believe he knows he’s unique. His name truly suits him, and he has a tendency to trip you as he walks in front.”
The bond they share is remarkable. On one occasion, when Heather had to travel (not intending the pun), she entrusted Trip to her daughter.
Though they tried to Facetime, it left Heather feeling sad about being away from him, as he awaited her return eagerly.
His Beloved Human Returns

Upon her return to California, Trip was overwhelmed with happiness and dashed over to greet her.
While Trip adores his mom, he also enjoys playful moments with his canine siblings, Tilly and Paco.
Heather has noticed mixed reactions from people when they see Trip on the street.

On occasion, people would find him adorable, while at other times, they would comment on how ‘ugly’ he is. These comments were quite hurtful for Heather to hear.
She explained: “Those reactions often reflect the individual’s personal struggles, but whenever I can, I take the chance to educate people and clarify that a deformity, even in a dog, shouldn’t be ridiculed or dismissed.”
Despite the negative comments, Trip is an incredibly affectionate dog who loves his family and yearns to enjoy a typical life. His mom believes he’s absolutely perfect, and that’s what truly matters.
